Dr. Jessica Griffin was an expert last season then announced she won’t be back for Season 9. Dr. Viviana Coles is stepping into her place to set up and help the couples with their marriages.

She is a family therapist and sex therapist. Her goal was to help couples with a common problem.

“It’s mainly to help them to understand how true intimacy can be built on a strange new platform, like on TV,” Coles told PopCulture.com. “A lot of the times [the couples] would kind of look at me like, ‘What is she going to ask me about?’ … but at the end of our conversation, it’s not been something super intimidating.”

She said it was hard for the cast to “stay true” to themselves after their marriages. The couples are often seen blowing up at each other. There is one couple who will probably have that problem.

Elizabeth Bice and Jamie Thompson were matched because of their passion

The first episode of the season has all of the experts going over why the four married couples were matched. Elizabeth Bice and Jamie Thompson had an interesting reason behind their connection.

“Elizabeth and Jamie are going to make a great couple because they both have so much passion,” explained Pastor Roberson. “She is a force of nature. Jamie also is a passionate and driven person. He’s been quite successful in his career.”

That passion could go the wrong way. Roberson commented on that. “Now the challenge is that they’re going to have to learn to contain their passion, understand that their passion should drive them together not apart,” said Roberson. “With this in mind, I believe they can be one of our long-lasting couples.”

It looks like someone else also gets on the end of that passion. Dr. Coles has a lot of work ahead of her this season.

A preview shows Bice calling Dr. Coles something she doesn’t like

A look at the new season provided by People shows the highs and lows of what the newlyweds will go through. For Elizabeth Bice and Jamie Thompson, those highs and lows seem to be pretty extreme.

Bice is seen telling the camera that they had sex during their honeymoon. It’s also revealed that Thompson told her he loved her. Things also take a turn for the worse after the honeymoon.

Thompson is seen asking why Bice can’t apologize for lying to him. Dr. Coles is later with the couple at what looks like their home when Bice said to her, “B*tch, I knows [sic] what I did yesterday.” The therapist responded with, “You didn’t just call me a b*tch, did you?”

We will have to wait and see what led to the heated moment and if it’ll get resolved. Either way, it looks like this will be another dramatic season.
