During an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Smith and Martin said they didn’t think they would make a third “Bad Boys” movie. However, Smith says he thinks “Bad Boys for Life” is the best of all the movies they’ve made in the franchise. “I definitely didn’t think we would do it, but I absolutely didn’t think that we had it in us to make the best of the three,” said Smith. “That’s what I think has actually happened. I think this movie is in terms of the story, the best of the three.”

It has been 17 years since the last “Bad Boys” movie, but Smith and Martin still have what it takes to play the roles they first made famous back in 1995. With Smith as Mike Lowrey and Martin as Marcus Burnett, they helped “Bad Boys” bring in more than $141 million in worldwide earnings. Here’s what Smith told Entertainment Tonight about the third “Bad Boys” installment:

I was actually surprised by how much we just hit the ground running. I was concerned because [it has been] 16 or 17 years since the last one, you know. [I wondered], ‘Would it still be there? Would we still have that thing?’ And it actually got seasoned. It’s like that chemistry is a click up from what it was. I think we’re both better as performers, so we were able to find more magical moments.

Lawrence has had long pauses between projects. He did some television work throughout the years, but his last big film was the 2011 movie “Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.” Some fans are wondering if this might be it for the actor.

In an interview with The New York Times, Lawrence discussed his plans to do more movies. He says he does plan to make more films, but they must be the right fit. Martin explained to Senior Staff Editor Mekado Murphy he doesn’t want to make a film for the sake of making a film. “I don’t want to be making movies just to be making movies,” Martin said. “I don’t want to do anything that’s not worthy of my time. I want to work with good people on good movies.”
