The Marvel Cinematic Universe has thrown together some of the most beloved superheroes from the pages of Marvel Comics. That makes for some great teams in the movies. Fans loved seeing Captain America interact with Iron Man as well as seeing Black Widow and Hawkeye team up.

One of the most popular pairings in the MCU is two of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Rocket Raccoon and Groot. The two are so well-liked that some fans are speculating over whether they may get their own show on Disney+.

Within the MCU, Rocket and Groot were introduced in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. The two eventually become a part of the superhero team while Groot sacrifices himself to ensure the rest of the team lives. Groot is eventually reborn as a much younger version of himself.

In Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Groot is now a toddler fans referred to as “Baby Groot.” Rocket takes a fatherly role in his friend’s life, often scolding him as a form of comic relief in the film.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Rocket and Groot accompany Thor on his journey across the galaxy to replace his hammer. They’re fighting alongside him when he shows up in Wakanda looking for Thanos.

Of course, our heroes are unsuccessful in stopping the Mad Titan, who snaps half of the galaxy’s living things out of existence. In one of the more gut-wrenching scenes in the MCU, Rocket can only watch as his best friend Groot turns to dust.

Groot eventually returns with all the other MCU’s fallen heroes in Avengers: Endgame, and is seen rejoining his friends at the end of the film. There is a third Guardians of the Galaxy film planned; Groot and Rocket are sure to be there.

All the Disney+ MCU series that are currently in development

In the past, Netflix and ABC were the primary homes of the Marvel TV shows. Now? It’s Disney+. With the platform’s debut last year, they quickly announced that they were going to use it to premiere shows about some top tier characters previously portrayed on the big screen in the MCU. Some of the characters that will get their own show include:

The first original series from Disney+, The Mandalorian, was a massive hit. It only stands to reason that future MCU-based shows will also be popular. So will Rocket and Groot be two characters who also get their own show?

Rocket and Groot have been featured in an MCU show before, though according to IMDb, it’s a cartoon that exists outside the MCU’s continuity focused on the Guardians of the Galaxy as a team.

A recent Reddit thread speculated on whether the two should get their own Disney+ series, and fans loved the idea. One poster said:

“I want a Rocket and Groot D+ Series…where they explore their time before GoTG and show how this odd pair became a friends’ duo at the first place…”

There’s no question a Rocket and Groot prequel could be gripping and hilarious at the same time. The only question is whether they’d be able to get Bradley Cooper to agree to participate.

Cooper provides the voice of Rocket, and any show without his signature voice wouldn’t be the same. Vin Diesel provides the voice of Groot, but he could probably get an entire season’s worth of voiceover done in one afternoon due to the fact that he only uses one phrase.

Will a Rocket and Groot series happen? Maybe, maybe not. But MCU fans would definitely be on board.
