Here’s what we know about the film so far

Different versions of a Shang-Chi project were in development for about twenty years but none of them ever made it to the big screen. After Black Panther showcased how diverse the MCU could be, the film was announced in December 2018. on a fast track. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Dave Callaham.

Simu Liu is portraying the titular hero, Tony Leung was cast as supervillain The Mandarin, and Awkwafina is playing an unknown but major role in the film.

Not much is known specifically about the plot, only that it will involve the Ten Rings organization. The group has been referenced in several MCU films, especially those dealing with Iron Man.

Florian Munteanu is allegedly joining the film

The website Dark Horizons is reporting that a “reliable source” tells them that Munteanu will be the “secondary villain” in Shang-Chi.

The primary villain in the film is Leung’s the Mandarin, who is the leader of the Ten Rings.

Munteanu’s own Instagram posts back up this report that he is in the film. On his Instagram, you can see that he has been in Australia, where the film was shooting several scenes, for the past few months. He was also reportedly in the country around the same time as Awkwafina and Tony Leung.

Another reason why it makes sense that Munteanu would be a villain in the film is that an earlier report from October 2019 said that Shang-Chi would face multiple villains in the film, including Steel Claw, Moving Shadow, Razor-Fist, and Ghostmaker.

The report from Dark Horizons did not list if there was a character in particular that Munteanu could possibly be attached to.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will hit theaters on Feb. 12, 2021.
