It’s rare for child stars to have massive careers as adults. It’s even more unusual for them to switch careers and become relevant in an entirely different field. However, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen aren’t your average child stars. The twins began their career on the long-running ABC sitcom, Full House when they were just six-months-old.

From there, the twins launched their own production company, Dulstar Entertainment, which enabled them to star in and produce a slew of mega-popular straight-to-video films that remained popular through the ’90s and into the early 2000s. After completing their final film together, New York Minute in 2004, the ladies began plotting their next move, taking over the fashion world.

After launching their brand The Row in 2006 and following that up with James and Elizabeth, the Olsen twins fortune has grown exponentially, but have they reached billionaire status?

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen began making their money on ‘Full House’

The Olsen twins began lining their bank accounts way back in 1986 when they snagged the role as Michelle Tanner on Full House. They remained on the series throughout its eight-season run into 1995.

As the Olsens got older, so did Michelle’s popularity, enabling them to command massive paydays by the time the show came to an end.

According to the Washington Post, the Olsens initially earned $2,400 per episode on Full House. In the middle of the series, as the twins got older, their salary jumped to $25,000 per episode. However, toward the end of the series run when their character Michelle was even more central, the pair were earning an astounding, $80,000 per episode.

Inside Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen massive net worth

After Full House, the Olsen worked for an additional 10 years in the movie industry doing several films each year where they were able to capitalize on their fame and the teen market as they got older.

By 2007, the ladies were worth a combined net worth of $100 million. However, with their fashion label, their wealth has only expanded exponentially. According to Celebrity Net Worth, they are worth $500 million together, or approximately $250 million each.

These days, with three CFDA Fashion Awards and appearances at premiere events like The Met Gala, the women are more known in the fashion industry than the movie business.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen aren’t billionaires

Despite their massive success, the Olsen Twins aren’t billionaires just yet, but if they continue working at the pace they currently do, they are well on their way to achieving that title.  “I’ve always been a worker. It has taken me a lot to figure out how to take a vacation,” Ashley told Porter magazine.

Still, though the Olsens aren’t billionaires, their fashion empire is worth $1 billion dollars. In fact, back in 2015, the pair found themselves in the middle of a class-action lawsuit with their Dualstar Entertainment Group. Shashista Lalani, a former design intern, told Page Six, that she worked at The Row for five months, being treated horribly and getting paid nothing. In the end, the lawsuit was settled for $140,000 out of court.
