Though they have been household names since they were babies, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are some of the most private celebrities on the planet. The pair had an extensive acting career from the time they were six-months into their early 20s. However, they pivoted drastically launching their billion-dollar fashion empire which consists of their labels, Elizabeth and Jame and The Row.

Though the twins launched their career on the hit ABC family sitcom Full House in the late ’80s, it’s what they did in the following years that helped them build their fortune. Following the end of Full House, the Olsens launched their Dualstar production company which allowed them to produce and star in their own films.

Movies like Double, Double, Toil and Trouble, Billboard Dad, and their final film together, 2004’s New York Minute were wildly successful. They even had merchandise and clothing as well. Still, the money that they made from Full House to launch Dualstar certainly wasn’t chump change.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are worth $500 million

Though they rarely give interviews or speak publically, the Olsens have certainly been successful at building an empire. According to Celebrity Net Worth, they are worth $500 million together, or approximately $250 million each.

After a brief stint at New York University in 2004, the sisters launched their label, The Row in 2006. Since then, the line has been so revered that it has won three CFDA Fashion Awards. Shortly thereafter, they launched Elizabeth and James (named for their siblings) a more contemporary line that carries wardrobe staples and is targeted toward “every day” shoppers.

Shockingly enough, the pair have been able to do all of this without compromising their privacy.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen do not like being in the public eye

After spending their entire childhood and their early 20s in the limelight, the sisters prefer to live their lives away from the spotlight in New York City.

They’ve also stopped acting completely even turning down a cameo on the Full House revival, Netflix’s Fuller House. “We don’t dive into that world [of social media]; we don’t have Instagram or Facebook,” Ashley Olsen said in 2017 in a rare interview with Porter magazine. “So we’ve never been connected to our customers or our fans in that way. We’ve stayed quite sheltered.”

What Ever Happened to the Olsen Twins? Their Lives Now Are Weirder Than You Thought

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made a ton of money on ‘Full House’

The Olsen Twins’ net worth will only continue to rise in the future because they are such hard workers. In fact, their salaries while filming Full House prove just how valuable they were to the series. “I’ve always been a worker. It has taken me a lot to figure out how to take a vacation,” Ashley told Porter.

According to the Washington Post, the Olsens initially earned $2,400 per episode on Full House. In the middle of the series, as the twins got older, their salary jumped to $25,000 per episode. However, toward the end of the series run when their character Michelle was even more central, the pair were earning an astounding, $80,000 per episode.

That certainly isn’t a terrible way to launch a career all before the age of 10.
