With its numerous twist compared to usual singing shows, The Masked Singer took the world by storm with its inception in 2019. Besides adding the element of unique and often elaborate costumes worn by the performers, fans are surprised when they are unmasked to reveal hit singers or well-known actors. The four-judge panel and host Nick Cannon often remained stumped by the masked singer leading to a pleasantly surprising reveal when characters are eliminated. The Masked Singer fans are hooked on the hit TV show and are looking forward to the upcoming season. However, can fans expect new twists, judges, or a host for season six? We’ve uncovered all the details about the new season of The Masked Singer and confirm that viewers will continue the guessing game with the show’s original stars along with new guest celebrity judges.

Why host Nick Cannon was temporarily replaced last season

As season five of The Masked Singer began without the familiar host Nick Cannon, many wondered if he would be back. Since he was fired from his sketch competition program Wild ‘N Out for his anti-Semitic comments, viewers wrongly speculated that there was a connection with him unexpectedly not opening season five. However, the real reason was that Cannon had tested positive for COVID-19 before filming and had to quarantine during the show’s first few weeks.

Niecy Nash filled in as host of The Masked Singer while Cannon rested and recovered. Nash filled the host’s shoes well for the first month of The Masked Singer. However, Cannon surprised everyone when he was the wildcard contestant in the bulldog costume and announced he would return as the show’s host the following week. However, Cannon’s short hiatus from the show had fans wondering if it was a hint that he had plans to make his exit as host for The Masked Singer

While fans must wait to find out which celebrities are going to participate in The Masked Singer season six, the same judges and fan-favorite host will be returning for the upcoming season. Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy, and Robin Thicke have been the four regular judges for the fun and entertaining singing competition show since season one. The panel works well together, whether joking about Jeong’s ridiculous guesses to using the clues for correctly identifying the famous masked contestant.

While Nash was a good temporary host, fans are happy about the news of Cannon returning to add his comedic nature to the show. However, Insider suggests bringing Nash back as a guest panelist for season six. The show has not announced any guest panelists yet, so you’ll have to watch this fall to see if Nash makes a return to The Masked Singer.

Since seasons four and five were filmed during the pandemic, the cast, fans, and contestants are excited to have a (smaller) live audience back in the studio.
