However, the real reason was that Cannon had tested positive for COVID-19 before filming and had to quarantine during the show’s first few weeks.
Niecy Nash filled in as host of The Masked Singer while Cannon rested and recovered. Nash filled the host’s shoes well for the first month of The Masked Singer. However, Cannon surprised everyone when he was the wildcard contestant in the bulldog costume and announced he would return as the show’s host the following week.
