Mason Disick Tried to Get ‘Instagram Famous’ But Kourtney Kardashian May Have Shut Him Down

No one can really blame Mason Disick for seeking social media fame. No one can really blame Mason Disick for seeking social media fame. After all, he literally grew up on reality TV with the world watching, and his entire family is filled with people who many believe are famous for being famous — and cashing in on every social media post they make. Still, Disick is a child, and his mother, Kourtney Kardashian, has plenty of reasons to rein in Disick’s efforts at going viral — including protecting her own privacy.

The mother-son battle appears to be playing out with Kardashian setting some boundaries and Disick apparently blowing right through them. What’s next for the 10-year-old and his plans for fame?

Mason Disick has lived his whole life in the spotlight

It’s easy to dismiss Disick’s attempts at gaining followers because he’s a kid. After all, there are plenty of preteens — including the children of celebrities — trying to make their name on sites like TikTok and Instagram. However, it’s important to remember that Disick has a unique experience when it comes to being a reality star.

His birth was one of the earliest fan-favorite moments on the long-running Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and while he may seem young, he’s older now than his aunt Kylie Jenner was when the show premiered. He has lived a particularly public life, and his views on celebrity and fame have certainly been shaped by the experience

Mason Disick used his Instagram account to go live

Disick recently got an Instagram account, and he wasted no time putting his lifelong fan base to work building his new account followers. In fact, he almost immediately went live and started spilling family secrets

While some viewers who saw the live Q&A session noted that Disick seemed “like such a sweet boy” who was “very polite” and acted like “he just wants to keep it light,” he didn’t manage to avoid all of the controversial questions that fans threw his way. While Disick tried to avoid questions about which of his aunts he likes the best or who of his famous relatives’ music he prefers, he did reveal a few juicy tidbits.

Among the gossip-worthy information was a comment that appeared to run counter to public knowledge about his aunt Kylie Jenner and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Travis Scott. While fans have been convinced that the pair are reunited, Disick — who would be in a position to know more than us — denied the claims. “No, Kylie and Travis are not back together,” Disick explained.

Kourtney Kardashian put an end to Mason Disick’s Instagram account

Disick’s Instagram account was a short-lived experiment to test his popularity with the public. Many speculated that Kardashian put an end to his access because she didn’t want him spilling any other family secrets — including any of her own!

Kardashian has come forward and admitted that she did pull the plug on Disick’s account, but she explained that it has more to do with his overall age and maturity than it does any particular gossip he shared on his brief live appearance. She also suggested that the decision to have a social media presence was one that she and ex Scott Disick would make together. “I did delete it because Scott and I just felt like he isn’t [old enough],” she explained. “He’s 10. I think there’s an age limit with Instagram, I think it’s 13.”

Initially, Kardashian had planned to make Disick’s account private, but when he went live without her permission, she decided that he wasn’t ready for that kind of responsibility. Ultimately, she is doing what any good parent in the modern era has to do: balance out the need to belong and participate in the online world with the need to keep kids protected from the potential dangers.
