‘Max Winslow and the House of Secrets’: Anton Starkman Tells Us About His Latest Role
Anton Starkman is known for his appearances in American Horror Story, Storks, and You. He also stars in the movie Max Winslow and the House of Secrets. Here’s what Starkman told Showbiz Cheat Sheet about his latest project.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: What attracted you to the script for ‘Max Winslow and the House of Secrets’?
Anton Starkman: I really enjoyed the script and the idea behind it. It had elements of science and mystery, which are two things I love. I remember thinking the script was like a high-tech version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
I had originally auditioned for the role of Benny but they were looking for someone older at the time, so they cast me as Ethan Winslow, Max’s younger brother, and I was super excited because the scenes were really fun and exciting. I got to film with the amazing Sydne Mikelle who plays Max Winslow, my older sister, and the rest of the cast who are all so nice.
CS: Tell us about your character, Ethan.
AS: Ethan Winslow, Max’s younger brother, is an upbeat kid. He is so proud and excited for Max when she finds out she was invited to the Virtue Manner. Max and Ethan have a really solid relationship and Ethan tends to hype Max up.
CS: Tell our audience a bit about your participation with the VING project. How and why did you get involved?
AS: I came across the VING project on Instagram. Kristen Bell posted a video “strictly for the teens.” Kristen’s Instagram video described the VING project where teens are given the opportunity to submit a video nominating someone in their lives who could use a financial boost. I thought of my family friend and neighbor Nicole. I submitted my video and it was accepted! No strings attached.
Being able to give to her made me feel so good. It was also the first time I had the opportunity to do that. I’ll make it a priority in my life to continue to do that. The VING project is truly an incredible opportunity that I highly recommend for all teens. It gives teens the opportunity to directly help people in their lives and their community.
CS: Do you have any upcoming projects?
AS: Unfortunately, the recent pandemic has drastically halted most production, but I did get the chance to guest star on Netflix’s show You as the character Young Forty. That was an amazing experience that I am so lucky to have had.
CS: Anything else to add?
This movie is not only fun and family friendly, but also touches on some important topics. Toxic social media use, believing in yourself, and being true to yourself. I hope everyone stays safe in these insane times. I can’t wait for people to see Max Winslow and the House of Secrets!
