The latest ‘Mayans MC’ teaser features a character who looks eerily similar to Jax Teller

FX recently dropped another Mayans MC season 4 teaser trailer.  And this one promises the long-awaited and inevitable clash between the Mayans and the SAMCRO crew from Sons of Anarchy.

In the clip, viewers can see EZ (JD Pardo) and Angel Reyes (Clayton Cardenas) leading the Mayans. While their loyal brothers Gilly (Vincent “Rocco” Vargas), Hank (Frankie Loyal), and Creeper (Joseph Lucero) fight alongside them.

On the other side of the battlefield is the crew from Sons of Anarchy. The SAMCRO characters are shrouded in vague imagery. But there is one who looks eerily similar to Hunnam’s Jax Teller from behind.

Everything Charlie Hunnam has said about Jax appearing in the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff

While the image has sparked fan speculation that Hunnam could be making a cameo in season 4 of Mayans MC, they shouldn’t get too excited about the possibility. Hunnam rarely talks about the spinoff in interviews. The one time he did, he made it clear that he has no interest in revisiting the Jax character or appearing on Mayans MC.

In 2018, Hunnam told Entertainment Tonight the reason why he would never make an appearance on the Sons of Anarchy spinoff. Not even for a brief cameo in a flashback.

“No, no… I had the deepest experience of my career coming out of that [when SOA ended in 2014). I had become that character, had become so deeply integrated into who I was, I literally didn’t realize until the day we wrapped and we put him to rest and I felt I went through a period of two or three weeks of, like, real bereavement,” Hunnam explained.

“I have his cut and, you know, people have been to my house and asked if they could try it on and I [say] ‘No one will ever put that cut on again’ and ‘We got to respect that dude. He’s not with us anymore.’ So I would never bring him back from the dead for something like that… It was seven years of my life. He sort of became sacred to me.”

One ‘Mayans MC’ star would love to reunite with Charlie Hunnam

Despite Hunnam’s reluctance to put Jax’s cut back on for one final time, there is one Sons of Anarchy star who would love to reunite with him on Mayans MC.

Emilio Rivera played Marcus Álvarez on Sons of Anarchy, and he now appears in Mayans MC. His character is the biggest bridge between the two series. And he told CinemaBlend that he would love to see Hunnam make an appearance as Jax in the spinoff.

“That would be really cool to work with Charlie again. That’d be great. I love Charlie, man. I don’t see why that couldn’t happen,” Rivera said.

He also noted that Mayans MC has featured something that Sons of Anarchy never did — flashbacks. Which would be the perfect opportunity for a Jax cameo.

Mayans MC season 4 premieres April 19 on FX.
