The first Hawkeye trailer dropped in September 2021, igniting excitement for the series — and for a Marvel Cinematic Universe musical? Even fans who aren’t thrilled about a Disney+ show focused on one of the most “vanilla and dull” Avengers found something to look forward to. For some, this revolves around a quick tease in the trailer unrelated to Hawkeye’s arc: Rogers: The Musical.

What was revealed in the ‘Hawkeye’ trailer?

The Hawkeye trailer gave Marvel fans a first look at the mentor/mentee relationship between Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. It seems Kate is impersonating Ronin, Hawkeye’s vigilante alter ego, as seen in Avengers: Endgame. She looks up to him. But he wants to set her straight.

The beginning of the trailer sees Hawkeye spending quality time with his kids post-snap. Noticeably absent, though — at least in person — is Clint’s wife Laura, played by Linda Cardellini.

Hawkeye takes place at Christmas in New York. Like many dads, Clint takes his kids to a theatrical production. But not just any show: a Marvel musical. Apparently, Rogers: The Musical has taken Broadway by storm in the MCU. And fans are 100% here for it.

‘Rogers: The Musical’…fans say yes please!

The musical tease appeared to be based on the Battle of New York. It features Thor, Iron Man, Loki, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and, of course, Steve Rogers aka Captain America. A thread on Reddit dedicated to discussing the Hawkeye trailer illustrates just how much fans want this musical to happen.

Some user comments talked about just how great that would be, “Alright I was skeptical at first of a Hawkeye show but this looks pretty fun. ‘Rogers the Musical’ is just amazing,” wrote one. “There better be a full number available on YouTube the next day,” added another.

Several comments implored Disney to make it happen, “Honestly would be absolutely hilarious if they released a fake musical (even just part of one) and took it completely seriously like the Hamilton release,” wrote one Redditor. “‘ROGERS: THE MUSICAL’?!?! Oh I want to see that. The entire production. Do it, Disney, you cowards,” said another. “I really want that Rogers Broadway show to be a real thing,” wrote one commenter.

This isn’t the first time a Marvel musical has been discussed

Musicals aren’t entirely out of many Marvel stars’ wheelhouse. During the press tour for Avengers: Endgame, several cast members, including Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, and Chris Hemsworth, and Renner himself performed along with The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon. They sang a rendition of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” as a musical recap of the MCU.

But one Marvel actor stands out when it comes to musicals. During the same press tour, the cast played “Most Likely To…” with MTV News, and for the question, “Most likely to star in the Avengers musical?” nearly every cast member picked Evans. It looks like Rogers: The Musical would be the perfect way to get him back in the MCU.

It is pretty clear that fans are going to be incredibly disappointed if Rogers: The Musical does not get some serious air time. So, Disney, the fans have spoken. Make a Marvel musical happen!
