Since stepping away from the royal family and relocating to the United States, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry have been trying to find their footing on their own. They had been holed up in a Los Angeles mansion belonging to Tyler Perry before recently moving into their own home in Santa Barbara, California.

From the sounds of it, the $14 million property has everything the pair needs as they continue to build their new life in America — except for a place for Meghan’s mom Doria Ragland, apparently. However, that could change soon.

According to a new report, Meghan and Prince Harry allegedly intend to transform their guesthouse into a home for Ragland. Here’s everything we know about the home and the apparent renovations so far.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently bought their own home

News broke on Aug. 12 that the Sussexes had bought their first home a few weeks earlier. Variety reported that the house came at a $14.65 million price-tag and features nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, and several leisure spaces, including a gym, home theater, and pool, surrounded by rose gardens, century-old olive trees, and more.

“Harry and Meghan have been quietly living in their own home in Santa Barbara since early July,” a source told Page Six, adding, “They intend to put down their roots in this house and the quiet community, which has considerable privacy. This is where they want to bring [their 1-year-old son] Archie up, where they hope he can have as normal a life as possible.”

Doria Ragland will reportedly have her own space in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s house

An insider told Us Weekly in a report published on Aug. 14 that Ragland will have a designated space at the home whenever she’s in town visiting the family. “They’re converting one of the guesthouses into a home for Doria, who plans to split her time between L.A. and Montecito,” the source shared.

Variety noted in the aforementioned report that the mansion features a detached guesthouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. But it is unclear if that’s the one being renovated or if there is another guesthouse on the property.

Back when Prince Harry and Meghan were searching for their forever home, a source told The Sun that they were specifically looking for a property with a granny annex for Ragland. The insider said the couple wanted a sort of second house for her since she’s “hugely independent” and would benefit from having a separate living quarter.

“The family have been joking that Meghan and Harry will now have a babysitter on tap, but the reality is Meghan doesn’t trust many people and Doria is her rock and her biggest champion,” the source added.

The insider also made a point to note that Prince Harry is allegedly OK with Ragland having her own area. “Harry has also grown close to her so, believe it or not, he was receptive to the idea of living with his mother-in-law,” the source went on.

So far, none of them have directly commented on the reports. But we hope to hear from them about their new home soon!
