Queen Elizabeth is reportedly hosting a birthday party for Prince William and Kate Middleton

Around the time of Prince William’s birthday on June 21, 2022, reports of a joint party began circulating. The UK’s Mirror reported the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who both turned 40 in 2022, would be the guests of honor at a birthday bash thrown by Queen Elizabeth II.

The outlet quoted a royal source, saying the monarch agreed they should “celebrate their landmark birthdays in style.” William and Kate’s birthday party is said to be scheduled for later in the summer. Possible venues include Windsor Castle or Sandringham House.

Although the party hasn’t been confirmed. The Mirror noted when asked about the celebration, a rep for Kensington Palace said they “do not comment on private plans.”

Per the UK’s Express, royal expert Neil Sean says the Duke and Duchess of Sussex feel differently about William and Kate’s birthday party.

“It does appear that there’s a bit of, shall we say friction, between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a very good source,” Sean said in a YouTube video. “And as ever we say allegedly because he would be keen to return for his brother’s 40th birthday.”

Sean continued, saying Harry’s thoughts on attending are “simple” and boil down to duty.

“He, of course, knows about royal duty and how things would look if he doesn’t return, it’s as simple as that,” Sean said.

Meghan and Harry made their first joint return to the UK for Platinum Jubilee weekend in early June 2022. According to Sean, the Duchess of Sussex’s not interested in returning for the party.

“According to the good source, Meghan Markle is not keen at all, to go back into a room, you know, some may say a hornet’s nest, which she did her own stirring, to spend an evening, afternoon, day, whatever that might be, celebrating someone that clearly has got issues with her, and likewise, visa versa,” he said.

Prince Harry going alone could be ‘tricky’

Sean added William and Kate’s party is likely a cause for reflection for Harry. He’s probably “looking back at his life and thinking to himself this something” he “truly wants to do,” Sean said.

For now, whether or not Harry and Meghan go to the party is uncertain. As Sean noted, “invitations have yet to be issued.” However, William might invite Harry and Meghan as a “gracious and kind” gesture. Sean also shared it will be “tricky” were Harry to attend solo.

“The difficult point for, then, Prince Harry is if he goes alone, what strife will he be leaving behind and more importantly, returning to when he eventually goes back to California,” he said.
