Meghan Markle might be relaunching her popular lifestyle blog, The Tig. The blog, named for the Duchess of Sussex’s favorite wine, exploded in popularity when Markle was cast on Suits. Unfortunately, she had to shut it down shortly after she married into the British royal family. But now, rumors of its relaunch have caused searches for the Duchess’s favorite wine to jump exponentially. Experts are dubbing this “The Meghan Markle Effect.”

What was The Tig?

Meghan Markle had a popular blog called The Tig before she became the Duchess of Sussex, Cheatsheet reported.

In addition to many entries about fashion, beauty, design, food, wine, and travel, the blog featured profiles of inspirational women (like the Duchess of Sussex’s friend, Priyanka Chopra) and heartfelt blogs from Meghan’s perspective about the little things that make life beautiful.

She also covered wellness topics, like meditation and healthy eats. Meghan also wrote about behind-the-scenes fun on the set of Suits, her time at Northwestern University as international studies and theater major, and her many passions, like learning foreign languages and her study abroad in Madrid.

What is Tignanello wine?

Meghan Markle loves Tignanello wine. So much so, in fact, that she named her blog after the wine. Tignanello is an Italian wine that was also the first red wine in the Chianti region that didn’t use white grapes. Tignanello contains several wine blends (Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc), and the average bottle retails for about $120. So, it’s very affordable.

A new finding by kitchen equipment experts Maxima Kitchen Equipment reveals that online interest for ‘Tignanello wine’ skyrocketed 25 times the average volume in the past day, an unprecedented spike in people Googling the Duchess’ favorite wine ahead of the speculated relaunch of her blog.  What’s more, analysis of Google search data reveals that online searches for ‘Tignanello wine’ exploded 2,400% in the UK on the 30th of January, after newly released public records showed that ‘The Tig’ had been recently trademarked, the name of Meghan Markle’s former lifestyle blog.

Experts are calling this explosion in popularity “The Meghan Markle Effect.” And this is much like everything else the Duchess promotes, wears, or otherwise mentions. Put simply, the #SussexSquad can’t get enough of their favorite woman.

Meghan Markle hasn’t confirmed whether she’ll be relaunching the popular site

Meghan Markle reportedly hoped she’d translate The Tig’s success into life as a cultural influencer. That chosen career path would have included cookbooks, branded items, and other opportunities. But when she married Prince Harry, she shut the blog down. The British media, and other noxious bloggers, were using The Tig to speculate about the true nature of her relationship with Prince Harry.

She wrote a farewell post to her devoted followers in April 2017. “What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun, and frivolity,” she wrote in part.

As of this writing, Meghan Markle has not officially commented on the relaunch of The Tig. We will, however, keep you updated if any developments occur.
