Prince Harry and Meghan left behind their royal life

Prince Harry and Meghan’s desire to leave their royal duties was signed off on by Queen Elizabeth, but they made sacrifices, including giving up their HRH titles and any public funding.

The queen supported their decision, releasing a statement that shared, in part: “I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.”

Prince Harry later delivered a speech at a dinner for supporters of Sentebale in London that touched on their drastic decision, sharing that it seemed to be their only option. He noted: “The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

Meghan has ‘no regrets’ about quitting

The decision to leave their royal duties wasn’t taken lightly, with the Sussexes revealing that they had been discussing it over the months. The situation had to be well thought out to land at their final decision and Meghan, according to one close friend, has “no regrets” about quitting.

Meghan has no regrets and the sky’s the limit. She said [she and Harry] feel like a huge weight has been lifted,” the insider told Daily Mail.

The source shared: “They’ve been spending quality time together as a family. Meghan has been cooking and making homemade baby food for Archie.”

With the dust settling, the couple are believed to be pursuing their financial independence, with Meghan said to be returning to her acting career. “Meghan said her work with Disney is far from over,” the insider shared. “The voice over is just the beginning and that there’s more collaborations to come.” Meghan reportedly signed a voice over deal with Disney in return for a donation to the charity Elephants Without Borders.

The couple also landed their first gig — a visit to Miami to deliver a speech at a JP Morgan “billionaire’s summit,” which one insider noted was “a very smart move to get in with some of the world’s richest people.”

“The conference is all about building wealth for future generations, and making the world better for future generations, a topic close to Harry’s heart,” the source added.

Meghan wanted to leave the toxic environment

Prince Harry and Meghan are most likely enjoying their escape from the spotlight as the duchess’ friend explained that Meghan “told her inner circle of friends that her soul was being crushed and that the decision to leave was a matter of life or death — meaning the death of her spirit.”

“She also felt like she couldn’t be the best mother to Archie if she wasn’t being her true, authentic self. Something she felt she couldn’t be in the royal family confines,” the insider added. “She said she didn’t want Archie picking up on her stress and anxiety. She felt like it was a toxic environment for him because there was too much tension and pent-up frustrations.”

The change of pace is suiting the Sussexes well, with the couple said to be enjoying their new normal life. Meghan’s friend shared: “Everything pretty much revolves around Archie right now and Meghan getting back into shape. They have a daily routine of doing yoga and taking long hikes.”
