Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s shocking exit continues to rock the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their departure as senior members of the royal family a few weeks ago, a move that surprised royal watchers around the world. But there was one thing Meghan did before she married Harry that suggested a #Megxit was in the cards all along — and it had something to do with her wardrobe.

Did Meghan Markle plan #Megxit before her marriage?

The idea that Meghan did not want to be a part of the royal spotlight this entire time is pretty scandalous. But she did do one thing that has some royal watchers convinced that she was plotting her exit since day one.

Once Harry proposed to Meghan, everyone thought that the former Suits star would move permanently to the UK. Following their wedding in 2018, the couple moved from their apartment in Kensington Palace to their newly renovated home, Frogmore Cottage.

But it seems as though Meghan Markle wasn’t planning on staying in the U.K. indefinitely. According to Page Six, Meghan put a bunch of her clothes in a storage facility in Toronto before she tied the knot with Harry.

An inside source claims that Meghan recently had the items moved from the storage unit to where she is currently staying on Vancouver Island. It is unclear why Meghan kept the clothes in Canada for the past two years, though it certainly suggests that she was planning on returning at some point.

What was in Meghan Markle’s wardrobe?

Most of the items Meghan kept in storage were things she frequently wore prior to dating Harry. This includes a cream sweater Meghan donned during a recent visit to Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.

The piece is from the designer, The Row, and is worth $1,350. Other items from Meghan’s storage include a parka from Soia & Kyo, and a jacket by Barbour.

It is evident that Meghan Markle is wearing her old clothes while she stays in Canada, but we still don’t know why she didn’t ship the items to the U.K. after she wed Harry. This raises questions about Meghan’s plans and the possibility that a royal exit has always been on her mind.

“It also begs the question, did Meghan always plan on returning to North America in some capacity?” Jamie Samhan, an editor for Entertainment Tonight, shared. “Perhaps they always considered having a Canadian abode.”

Meghan has not commented on the speculation surrounding her storage unit in Canada. Harry and Meghan are planning on splitting their time between Canada and the U.K. for the foreseeable future.

Queen Elizabeth reportedly saddened by lack of time with Archie

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set to live in Canada for part of the year, a source claims that Queen Elizabeth is sad about not seeing her great-grandson, Archie Harrison, more frequently.

Even before the couple decided to make the big move, Her Majesty hardly had access to Archie. After visiting the baby shortly after his birth, sources say that Queen Elizabeth has only seen Archie a few times.

Things will only get worse now that Harry and Meghan are living in Canada, which is reportedly one of the things Queen Elizabeth is taking the hardest.

“She will be very sad to have barely seen Archie, and that he will miss out on growing up with his cousins and wider family,” a source explained.

William and Kate Middleton’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have reportedly only met Archie twice over the past year. Charles is in the same boat as Queen Elizabeth and is saddened by the fact that he will miss out on Archie’s upbringing.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lose their titles

As a consequence of their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family, Harry and Meghan have officially relinquished their royal titles. Moving forward, the couple will no longer be referred to as his or her royal highness.

That said, they did not lose their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Harry will remain sixth in line to the crown.

The Sussexes have also lost public funding and are reportedly going to pay back the $3 million that was used to renovate Frogmore Cottage. They will continue to live in the home, however, as long as Queen Elizabeth permits them to.

It is unclear how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to earn a living, though they certainly have a lot of options at their disposal.
