Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s extensive Oprah Winfrey interview could possibly crack open some serious information about the duchess’ life within the royal family. The interview is set to air on March 7 at 7 p.m. on CBS. Although there are still plenty of unknowns, one thing we do see is Meghan’s outfit. And the former working royal certainly didn’t hold back on wearing an expensive designer piece.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview could break open the tension between the families

When Meghan and Harry began dating, the public seemed thrilled that Harry had found someone special. But as time went on, stories about the duchess were published in the media, with rumors suggesting that Meghan didn’t get along with the family in the way they’d all hoped.

At first, it was unclear if the rumors were true. But over time, tensions between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the royal family became more obvious. Eventually, Harry and Meghan decided to leave the family altogether (which was also due to constant harassment from the tabloids). Harry and Meghan alluded to tension in a 2019 interview, but nothing was outright revealed. Now, though, the two are speaking with Oprah — on their own terms — and it could crack the mystery of the royals’ relationships wide open.

Meghan Markle’s $4,700 dress might not help her reputation

There have been a few teasers released about Meghan and Harry’s words to Oprah, but otherwise, not much is known about what Harry and Meghan will reveal. Something we do know, though, is what Meghan is wearing — and she certainly spared no expense on her interview outfit.

Meghan wears a dark, flowy Armani maternity dress for the occasion, with a casual vibe yet plenty of elegance. The dress, which cost $4,700, was paired with various jewelry pieces, including Meghan’s $4,000 Cartier bracelet. The high-end look comes at an interesting time; in 2020, millions in the United States lost their jobs during the pandemic, and unemployment rates were at an all time high.

Meghan has come under fire in the past for her spending. The duchess stepped out in an $18,000 Givenchy dress shortly after she and Harry tied the knot, and people instantly accused her of overspending. Meghan reportedly spent more than $1 million on fashion in 2018 — plus a reported $739,000 on maternity clothes while pregnant with her first child. In Meghan’s defense, though, it’s not unlike royals to spend a pretty penny during that first year, since so many royal occasions mean that women need far more outfits than they own at the time.

Meghan Markle was recently accused of bullying her staff

Although Meghan and Harry left the royal family, the duchess still can’t seem to catch a break. Meghan recently came under fire when accusations surfaced that two former staffers were bullied into quitting their jobs. According to accusations made in a statement, Meghan allegedly showed “emotional cruelty and manipulation” toward her staff members. Meghan released a statement saying she is “saddened” by the accusations.

The royal family released a statement as well, saying they’re looking into the rumors. Many saw the royals’ response as an attack on Meghan, since the family typically doesn’t entertain accusations — including those against Prince Andrew and his former friendship with late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
