Meghan, Duchess of Sussex may no longer be a senior member of the British royal family but her wardrobe still draws lots of attention. Voted one of the best-dressed royals, Meghan’s traded tiaras for sunglasses since she and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex relocated to California.

Her current looks may be decidedly more laidback but her fans can’t help but revisit some of her most memorable royal outfits. As a senior royal, the 39-year-old showed up to many engagements giving off major superhero vibes.

Meghan Markle thoughtfully plans her outfits

Like her sister-in-law Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan plans her outfits for royal engagements. Since marrying Harry in 2018, Meghan’s highlighted many brands often to reflect the nature of her visit.

During her and Harry’s tour of Australia, she wore local designers and introduced her millions of fans to brands they may not have heard of otherwise. Like the Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Diana, Meghan likes to send a message with her outfits.

She’s worn mini-capes to royal events

Meghan showed up for her first official engagement with Queen Elizabeth II giving off superhero vibes. What says superhero more than a cape? Not even a month after she wore a Givenchy wedding dress to marry the Duke of Sussex, Meghan wore another custom creation from the designer.

In January 2019, Meghan continued the superhero-inspired looks with another cape. This time she wore a black cape coat when she visited the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Just a few months later, the Duchess of Sussex wore a similar look with yet another cape. She and Harry made a visit to New Zealand House to sign a condolence book on behalf of the royal family after a terrorist attack in the Commonwealth nation killed at least 50 people. Meghan wore another all-black look featuring a cape.

Meghan Markle also loves more dramatic capes

The superhero capes continue. On more formal occasions Meghan’s been known to go all out with the capes. During their February 2019 tour of Morocco, she wore a gown with a cape to an evening reception.

With her days as a senior royal winding down, the Duchess of Sussex turned up the volume on her wardrobe. Embarking on her final round of official royal engagements, Meghan stepped out in bold colors.

Attending a concert for the Mountbatten Festival of Music on March 7, 2020, at Albert Hall, she and Harry coordinated their outfits. They both wore red with Meghan looking every bit a superhero in a floor-length gown with a cape.

Only two days later Meghan made headlines once again with her outfit. In the middle of supposed drama between the Sussexes and the Cambridges at Commonwealth Day Service on March 9, 2020, Meghan owned her superhero-inspired look.
