Less than a year after announcing their departure from the British royal family, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry have set up a life for themselves and their young son, Archie Harrison, far away from the confines of the royals.

The pair have purchased their first home together in Santa Barbara. Though many critics and royal experts were concerned that the duke and duchess would not make it outside of The Firm, the couple seems happier than ever.

Now that the pair are financially independent amid their Netflix deal, they are also being a bit more vocal about their plans and interests. In fact, the coffee table books the Sussexes have in their living room give us a glimpse into their passions.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Santa Barbara estate is the perfect place to raise their son

100 miles from LA, the Sussexes’ new home, nestled into the Montecito community of Santa Barbara, allows them the privacy and space that they’ve been craving. Their estate is 19,000 square feet and boasts nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms. It also includes a guest house, a tea house, a children’s cottage, a full-size tennis court, a lap-lane swimming pool, and an elaborate built-in children’s playset.

However, it’s the massive amounts of outdoor space that Prince Harry could not stop gushing about. He revealed via Daily Mail,

I loving it. It’s fantastic. What I need is a few mini rugby balls that I can get Archie involved with the game…I’ve got a little bit of space outside, which we’re fortunate enough to have. We’ve got a whole Rugby League world cup coming next year. I definitely plan on coming back. I would have been back already had it not been for COVID.

This is what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s house smells like

In addition to the sweeping grounds, the Sussexes have worked to make their home super cozy and family-friendly on the inside. In a home of calming neutrals with pops of color and foliage like a fiddle leaf fig plant, Meghan and Prince Harry have given us tiny glimpses into their new home.

During surprise virtual appearance on the America’s Got Talent finale, Meghan showed off her living room including the scented candle she had burning in the background.

The Sussexes living room smells like the $68 Diptique’s Tubereuse candle. The description reads,

The scent of tuberose in the wide fields of Southern India, where these fragrant white flowers are grown. From the top of their long, slender stems, they exhale a heady yet fresh and green scent, delicately nuanced with fruity, milky notes.

Here are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s coffee table books

In addition to fresh flowers and the Diptique’s Tubereuse candle, Meghan and Prince Harry coffee table books were also on display. The books included  ‘Women’ by the National Geographic, an Annie Leibovitz photographic book, and Humans Of New York.

All of these seem to align perfectly with the Sussexes’ passions and interests.
