From her now-shuttered lifestyle blog, The Tig and various interviews over the years, we know that one of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s greatest passions is cooking. In fact, when Prince Harry popped the question in November 2017, the duchess was roasting a chicken in their 2-bedroom apartment at Kensington Palace.

Even with her grueling schedule when she was still a senior working member of the British royal family, the duchess always found ways to incorporate her passions. As one of her biggest projects, she collaborated with the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen. These women were directly affected by the devastating Grenfell Tower fire that killed 72 people. The duchess wrote the forward for the kitchen’s Together: Our Community Cookbook.

The Tig was full of delicious gems and treats. The duchess likes to adhere to a healthy lifestyle while indulging now and again. In fact, her red wine hot chocolate recipe is the perfect thing for happy hour.

Meghan Markle cooks every single day

At present, the Duchess of Sussex is hunkering down in a Los Angeles compound with Prince Harry and their young son, Archie Harrison. Still even before the coronavirus (COVID-19) spread across the world, demanding self-quarantining, the duchess cooked for her family daily.

“We’ve all been to their cottage,” one of the duchess’ friends revealed to People in 2018. “It’s small and she’s made it cozy, but the perception of their lifestyle and the reality are two different things. Meg cooks for herself and Harry every single day.”

In addition to cooking, the duke was often known to go to the grocery store. It was a way for the duo to continue to have some semblance of normalcy in their lives.

Meghan Markle loves to indulge

The Duchess of Sussex sticks to a relatively healthy diet of whole foods. However, she finds her favorite food of all time, irresistible. “I could eat french fries all day,” she once told Cosmopolitan U.K. Mac and cheese is also high on the duchess’ list. “I now buy the Annie’s organic one if I’m craving it, but I throw some frozen peas into it and have this gooey simple childlike meal,” She told EyeSwoon. “I used to cook it for the kids I would babysit, and I always enjoyed feeling like a kid and eating with them.”

For Meghan, it’s all about balance. She explained to Best Health, “Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. Do the things you enjoy within reason.”
