Meghan Markle Sends a Strong Message to Critics — She’s Not Afraid to Defend Herself

There are times when being in the public eye sounds like a dream and other times when it sounds like anyone’s worst nightmare. For Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, her rise to fame has been anything but easy.

The former American actress certainly worked hard, especially at the beginning of her career, and finally got her big break on the legal drama Suits. It was after a few years that she met Prince Harry, and became a member of one of the most famous families in the entire world upon their marriage.

Since then, Meghan has been in the public eye more so than ever before, and just about everything that she says and does often comes under intense criticism. Ever since Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down from their royal duties in a move called Megxit, she has been under even more pressure than she was in her days as a royal.

Now, Meghan is coming at critics for calling her out.

Meghan’s transition from actress to duchess

Chances are that Meghan certainly had no idea just how famous she would eventually become when she was growing up in LA, California. Acting was something that she always wanted to pursue, and even after her breakout role on Suits, she was still able to live a relatively quiet life.

It was a few years ago that Meghan and Prince Harry were introduced on a blind date, and her life hasn’t been the same since. Suddenly, the former actress was one of the most sought-after women in the entire world, and she actually had a bit of trouble handling all the attention that she was receiving.

Shortly after the birth of their first son, Archie Harrison, Meghan and Prince Harry announced that they were starting a new journey independent of the royal family. They spent some time in Canada before finally settling down in LA, California, where Meghan has continued her charity and philanthropic work. 

Meghan Markle is no stranger to controversy

Meghan is a woman who likes to do things her own way, and she doesn’t hesitate to make that known. Even as a member of the royal family, she was known for being somewhat of a rule bender, and never let anyone stand in her way.

Although Queen Elizabeth tended to turn her head in the other direction, the press wasn’t — and still isn’t — always so kind. So, what controversies have Meghan been involved in, or at least had her name associated with?

Well, she openly shared her feelings on issues such as the Black Lives Matter Movement, as well as politics and the importance of voting in the upcoming election. Meghan has also talked about her feelings regarding police brutality, and even with the criticism that she faces on a regular basis, she shows no signs of backing down.

Meghan says people’s interpretation of her words are ‘Inflammatory’

We can’t imagine that it is easy hearing people all over the world pick apart what you say and voice their negative opinions, yet that is exactly what Meghan has to constantly deal with. Fortunately for her, she has a great way of handling it.

“If you look back at anything I’ve said, what ends up being inflammatory is people’s interpretation of it,” said the Duchess of Sussex when speaking with Ellen McGirt at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference.

The duchess went on to add: “If you listen to what I actually say, it’s not controversial.”

Meghan is definitely confident enough in her words and actions to know that she is doing what she feels is best, and it would appear that she doesn’t plan to let anyone tell her otherwise. She knows what she believes in and what she wants, and that is all that the Duchess of Sussex needs in order to be the best that she can.
