Meghan Markle may have stepped back from her royal duties with Prince Harry, but that doesn’t mean she’s completely out of the spotlight. Markle’s critics were back at mom-shaming the former royal after she was spotted out hiking with baby Archie and their dogs. While Markle appeared happy, many noticed that things weren’t quite right with the way she had Archie positioned in the baby carrier.

Prince Harry shared their decision to leave the royal family was their only choice

During a dinner for supporters of Sentebale in London, Prince Harry gave a speech that provided more insight into the reasons for their decision to exit the royal family, as he explained there was “no other option.”

He began his speech by noting: “I must say that I can only imagine what you may have heard, or perhaps read, over the past few weeks. So, I want you to hear the truth from me. As much as I can share, not as a prince or a duke, but as Harry, the same person that many of you have watched grow up over the past 35 years, but now with a clearer perspective.”

He further shared: “The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

Meghan Markle’s critics mom-shame her again

Photos of Markle walking her dogs while cradling Archie in a baby carrier landed online and, while Markle looked happy and relaxed, there was something people couldn’t quite get over — the way Archie appeared to slouch to one side in the carrier.

Among the critical comments that lit up Twitter was one particularly harsh remark: “Meghan Markle would rather get a celeb pic than make sure her baby and the baby harness are secure!! My God, the most un-maternalistic women ever! Poor Archie is hanging precariously as she smiles to paparazzi.”

Another person noted: “Meghan too busy smiling at cameras to notice Archie is subsequently falling out of the baby carrier and being held by his neck. She is exploiting that poor child. She only brings him out when it’s convenient for her — meaning when she wants attention.”

One curious fan asked: “I’m only perplexed about the baby carrier. I thought they have better support. Poor Meghan looks to be a bit off center with Archie’s weight. Do kiddos normally go to the ‘back’ baby carrier at Archie’s age?”

Another critic offered: “The way she’s carrying that baby REALLY bugs me. As a mom of 3, I just want to stop her and show her the correct way to use a carrier. It’s like she has never done this before…in the whole ‘8 months’ she’s had him. Meghan…there are youtube videos for these things. USE THEM.”

Parenting experts weigh in

While the baby may have looked a bit awkward in the carrier, Markle hasn’t done anything wrong, according to parenting expert Vanessa Christie, who pointed to a shoulder strap that slipped, telling Daily Mail: “It is important for the development of babies hips to have their weight evenly distributed whilst in a baby carrier.” She continued: “However, this looks like a moment in time when the strap has slipped off Meghan’s shoulder and Archie’s weight has temporarily shifted. She’s smiling broadly at him so I’m sure he was okay.”

Milli Hill, author of The Positive Birth Book, further shared: “She is doing an absolutely brilliant job and the fact that one strap of her sling has slipped just shows how hard she is working and that she, like all of us, is human.”
