Celebrities and royals do not always share how they are feeling with the public. As such, body language experts are often on standby to interpret their behaviors.

A body language expert recently analyzed an old interview clip Meghan Markle did. According to the expert, this was a clip in which Meghan was “trying too hard.”

Meghan Markle did many interviews before becoming a royal

Before Meghan married Prince Harry in 2018, she was an actor. She had many roles on TV shows and in movies, with her most well-known one being Rachel Zane on the series Suits. Meghan was on Suits from 2011 to 2018.

In order to promote her work, Meghan often did interviews during her time in Hollywood. Fans can still see many of them on YouTube and various other websites.

After Meghan had been dating Harry for a while, she also did an interview with Vanity Fair, where she talked a bit about how she had been dealing with the press attention.

In 2013, Meghan appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. At the time, the now-Duchess of Sussex had been on Suits for about two years. During the interview, Meghan and Ferguson joked around and exchanged pleasantries.

Body language expert Jesús Enrique Rosas (who also goes by The Body Language Guy on social media) recently analyzed a clip of Meghan on the show. According to Rosas, Meghan’s behavior with Ferguson was very different from the behavior that many royal fans know her to exhibit today.

Rosas said that Meghan acted “bubbly” with “really broad gestures” to appear “enthusiastic.” She also allegedly touched her thigh at one point, which Rosas interpreted as a “flirting” signal. However, Rosas spotted subtle signs of “tension” as well, such as when Meghan clenched her fists for a split second.

“By this point, you’ve probably noticed that Meghan was seriously trying too hard,” Rosas said after showing a clip of Meghan laughing hysterically at Ferguson’s joke. “This is not ‘herself,’ so to speak. And one of the perks of the forced laughter at the end is that we at least understand why this does not feel like the usual Meghan that we know. Because she’s just trying too hard.”

Rosas shared that this makes it difficult for onlookers to discern what Meghan’s real personality is.

At one point during the awkward interview, Ferguson commented on Meghan’s “strangely hairless body.” In another part, Meghan talked about the Catholic schoolgirl uniform she wore as a student, which some people interpreted as a sexual innuendo. Meghan also told Ferguson that one of her nicknames was “Nutmeg.”

After Meghan began dating and garnered media attention, many onlookers have revisited the interview and called it “creepy.” According to Inside Edition, one person even claimed it was “sexist.”

However, others have defended Ferguson, saying the tone of the interview is a part of his sense of humor.
