Being a member of a high-profile family is anything but easy. Keeping a secret is virtually impossible, since the tabloids are clamoring to be the first to report a new story, and they often jump to conclusions.

In just a few short years, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, went from being an actress who lived a quiet life in Toronto, to becoming one of the most famous women in the entire world. While she was a celebrity in her own right long before meeting Prince Harry, her popularity soared after they announced that they were in a serious relationship.

Once the couple got married, their fame escalated to new levels. Suddenly, the couple had no privacy, and Meghan had to deal with the fact that news outlets were constantly reporting on every move that she made.

The duchess experienced a bit of drama in the beginning. Express reports that the palace staff gave her some mean nicknames, and she wasn’t always portrayed in a positive light. Here is how Meghan’s biggest royal faux pas made her seem selfish and why she may have had no choice.

Most people imagine royal life to be nothing short of a fairy tale, but that is not how it turned out for Meghan. She was known as everything from “Me-Gain” to “Duchess Difficult”, and she was constantly being compared to her new sister-in-law, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

In fact, according to Cosmopolitan, the duchess soon realized that royal life could be pretty frustrating, and she quickly realized that things weren’t going to be easy. She was harassed by the British media, and she and Prince Harry even felt compelled to move away from London to escape the spotlight.

They didn’t exactly find what they were looking for, and it got to the point where Meghan was being criticized for everything from her skills as a new mother to her situation with her estranged family.

Meghan Markle’s biggest royal faux pas labeled her tactless

Some fans were sympathetic to the fact that Meghan was being given a hard time, but there was a specific incident that left many scratching their heads. In a royal faux pas that labeled the duchess “tactless,” she chose Princess Eugenie’s wedding day to announce that she was pregnant with baby Archie, and a lot of people quickly called her out for her bad timing.

According to Us Magazine, Prince Harry was actually pretty embarrassed that his wife chose that time to announce her pregnancy, and he wasn’t the only one who disapproved. Sarah Ferguson, better known as “Fergie”, was apparently extremely angry at Meghan for stealing Princess Eugenie’s thunder, instead of waiting a short while before telling the world that she and Prince Harry were about to become parents.

Even Eugenie herself was reportedly disappointed at her cousin’s wife for taking the attention on her special day.

Meghan knows that she is one of the most sought-after women in the world, and at large events, the cameras would constantly be on her. Was that a factor in deciding to announce her pregnancy at someone else’s wedding? Perhaps it was!

Meghan surely knew that she would be photographed quite a bit that day, and she may have felt that she needed to be ahead of the news since everyone would be able to see that she was pregnant. It is definitely possible that the former actress felt compelled to make her own announcement, no matter how badly timed it was before people began speculating on their own.

Chances are, Meghan did not mean to offend anyone, and that she was only doing what she felt was necessary.
