Meghan McCain Is off ‘The View’ as Whoopi Returns and Fans Rejoice

Meghan McCain was off The View once again on the same day that Whoopi Goldberg returned to the show. The conservative co-host went missing from the ABC daytime program on Thursday. Goldberg assured audiences that the political pundit would return the following day to take her seat at the “Hot Topics” table. Fans took to Twitter to celebrate McCain’s absence.

“Gotta admit, it’s refreshing today to watch a show without Meghan McCain on it,” a fan tweeted. “She truly brings the show down. Much better show today. I rarely watch now simply because I can’t stand her interrupting the discussion.”

“You know what’s interesting? I can watch this clip with no volume (which is how I have to watch when Meghan is on) and see a relaxed, change of atmosphere on everyone’s faces. I don’t even need sound to know it was a better show,” a viewer commented.

“Oh good, Meghan is not there,” another fan mentioned.

Taking up McCain’s chair was Bari Weiss, who fans seemed to really like.

“Can we replace Meghan McCain everyday?” a fan asked.

“I loved The View today. There was no high school cattiness and it was such a nice break,” another viewer observed.

“She did amazing,” a Twitter user added. In fact, Bari Weiss would make a great replacement for #MiserableMeg. Something to think about…”

“Meghan has the uncanny ability to bring her father into any discussion no matter what the topic [is]. Please replace [McCain] with Bari Weiss,” another fan suggested.

Meghan McCain fears being fired from ‘The View’

If there’s something about McCain is that viewers always know how she feels. The Republican either yells out her feelings and talks over her co-hosts or her facial expressions give her completely away. It’s McCain’s passion for politics that can land her in hot water, something she fears could have negative repercussions.

“I go in assuming I’m going to be fired every day,” McCain said during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “Every single day. Yes, every day.”

When host Andy Cohen asked if there had been a moment she was closed to getting the boot, she explained.

“It’s more the tone we are [at] culturally, people get canceled so easily,” she explained. “And by the way, Joy has this same thing, because we are the most honest and raw. And we’re always going to say something that is going to be too far one way. So I say it sort of jokingly, but sort of not.”

Meghan McCain’s relationship with Joy Behar

McCain and Joy Behar are continuously at odds with each other as they are on opposite sides of politics. This has led many to speculate there’s bad blood between the co-hosts, which is far from the truth.

“It really hurts my feelings!” McCain said of feuding rumors with Behar. “It genuinely hurts my feelings because our dressing rooms are next door to each other and you and I have the same emotional reaction to things — sometimes in different ways — but we’re both upset equally, the equal amount of the same things. And I wish people would give us a break, for real.”

The ladies are professional and know how to separate their politics from their personal feelings.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT/CT.
