Amid her husband, Presidential Donald Trump’s controversial presidency and policies, First Lady Melania Trump has tried to shield herself from any blowback. Instead, she made it nearly four years with her “Be Best” strategy, her interesting Christmas decorations, and her style.

However, the first lady found herself embroiled in some controversy of her own recent when her former friend and adviser, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff published a tell-all book, Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady, and leaked some private audio of the first lady along with it.

In the audio, Trump can be heard lambasting the former presidential administration, Christmas, and having to answer for her husband’s family-separation policy at the border. In some other audio, Trump can be heard trying to understand why Beyoncé snagged Vogue’s September issue in 2018 when many designers and magazines have chosen not to work with her.

Beyoncé had total control of her September 2018 Vogue cover

If you recall Beyoncé’s stunning Vogue cover one year after giving birth to her twins Sir and Rumi. Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour gave the legendary entertainer total control of her shoot and interview.

Beyoncé hired the first Black photographer, Tyler Mitchell, to do a Vogue cover where she talked about everything from her legacy to her body image, as well as opening doors for those coming behind her.

To say that it was stunning and glorious woud be an undersatement. However, it appears that Trump simply didn’t get it.

Melania Trump was stunned Beyoncé was given the cover and so much input

In some newly released private audio from Wolkoff of the first lady that was shared with NBC News, Trump reportedly “appeared to express astonishment” that Wintour was so willing to turn over the reigns of the September issue to Beyoncé giving her so much, “editorial input.”

“Anna [Wintour] gave the September issue of Vogue cover — complete, complete, complete, everything — to Beyoncé,” Trump allegedly told Wolkoff. “She hired a Black photographer. And it’s the first Black photographer ever doing a cover of Vogue.”

Amid the six hours of audio Wolkoff reportedly has of the first lady, this isn’t all that controversial. However, that hasn’t stopped Trump from clapping back.

Melania Trump is clapping back

The first lady has not taken Wolkoff’s accusations or book lying down, she wort a lengthy essay about it on Whitehouse.gov without ever naming her former friend by name. She also clapped back at the media for covering her “salacious claims” and “focus[ing] their coverage on pettiness.”

Now, amid the news of her leaked conversation about Beyoncé, Trump is clapping back directly. “[Wolkoff’s] narcissism knows no bounds, this woman is a fraud,” the first lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said in a statement. “These audio tapes are hand-picked about nonsense and presented with no context. Shame on her for this continued attempt at character assassination and shame on NBC for covering this gossip.”

Beyoncé has not commented on any of this.
