Wu-Tang Clan rapper and Power Book II: Ghost actor Clifford “Method Man” Smith Jr. recently reunited with Blackout! collaborator and How High co-star Redman for a special Verzuz event. The two 90s artists went hit for hit, reminding fans of their classics. They also honored late New York-based legends DMX and Black Rob while Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, Inspectah Deck, and Cappadonna made appearances. Is Method Man married, and how many kids does he have?

How old is Method Man?

Born Clifford Smith Jr. on Mar. 2, 1971, in Hempstead, Long Island, the rapper is currently 50-years-old. Around 1992, he joined the collective Wu-Tang Clan, becoming one of the most recognized members.

After receiving an individual record on their solo debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) in 1993, he went on to release his first album, Tical (1994), which featured Grammy-Award winning song with Mary J. Blige, “I’ll Be There For You/You’re All I Need.”

The rapper then appeared on several different songs before reuniting with Wu-Tang Clan in 1997 for the Grammy-nominated double album, Wu-Tang Forever.

In 1999, he met rapper Redman on tour, and the two dropped platinum-selling Blackout!, leading to the two starring in How High and Fox sitcom Method & Red. He released four more albums and claimed his fifth, Crystal Meth, would drop in 2011 but hasn’t yet.

Method Man began focusing more on acting around 2011

In the late 90s, the rapper started appearing on the big screen, snagging a lead role in the 1998 crime drama, Belly.

He then landed recurring roles in shows including Oz, The Wire, Twilight Zone, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

In 2010, he portrayed the central part of an executive in The Good Guys before leading the 2011 film, The Mortician. Method Man has also performed as a voice actor for main character Phantasm in Chozen (2014) and landed hosting gig of TBS’s Drop the Mic (2017).

Is Method Man married?

In 1997, the “Say” rapper met girlfriend Tamika Smith when she worked as his personal assistant. They began dating, and he proposed to her two years later. The couple tied the knot in 2001.

She continued working for her husband until 2002. In 2006, Smith received treatment for breast cancer, and radio personality Wendy Williams exposed her diagnosis on the air.

She also claimed he had an affair with his wife’s doctor. The rapper expressed his disdain for Williams’ decision to blast the sensitive information, namely because some of her family didn’t know about her condition.

Therefore, he has kept his family life more private.

How many kids does Method Man have?

The Wu-Tang Clan member has three children with his wife. His oldest Sha is followed by Rae and Cheyenne, who are twins.
