It feels like the sequels to Avatar are a mythological entity that we will never actually see. Avatar 2 has been discussed for so long but gets delayed constantly. However, Avatar 2 is scheduled to be released on Dec. 16, 2022, so we may be returning to Pandora soon.

Cameron is not stopping with just one sequel as Avatar 3, 4, and 5 are confirmed to be on the way. Avatar is still the highest-grossing movie of all time so there are many people who have been waiting to return to this world. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are reprising their roles from the first and are being joined by newcomers including Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Vin Diesel, and Yeoh.

Michelle Yeoh teases her upcoming role in the ‘Avatar’ sequels

Yeoh became a Hong Kong action star in the 1990s and became known to American audiences through her performance in Ang Li’s Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Recently she had major roles in hit films like Crazy Rich Asians and Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Her most recent movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once, is a smaller project, but it’s gaining attention after receiving rave reviews.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Yeoh discussed her role in the Avatar films. While she is confirmed to be playing a character named Dr. Karina Mogue, the actor didn’t provide too many details about her role or about the upcoming sequels in general.

“So, yes, I am in the Avatar sequels and as you know we can’t really talk very much about it,” Yeoh said. “But it’s James Cameron! Come on! I would be the tea lady for James Cameron! We shot for a few weeks, and I was so impressed with the work that he’s done, the work that he’s doing, the energy. He’s a genius, he’s a walking genius. And I really really enjoyed the experience and I can’t wait to go back soon, I hope.”
