Miley Cyrus Is A Bigger Ariana Grande Fan Than You Will Ever Be
Ariana Grande’s Vogue cover shoot dropped earlier this week and fans were in awe of the singer’s talent and resilience. Covering topics like touring, grief, love, heartache, and career, her accompanying interview truly ran the gamut of emotions. Many fans were also surprised, but pleased, to see that a beautiful quote from Miley Cyrus was included in her interview. However, Cyrus has been openly supportive of Grande for many years now. In fact, her love of Grande gets dangerously close to stanning.
“Ariana’s an open book. She has always shared her experiences with this beautiful blend of reality and the fantasy that pop culture requires. But holding her in my arms that night and feeling her shake from the loss of lives, literally feeling her heart pounding against mine—when you can let down the personas and cry with the rest of the world, it’s unifying. It’s a reminder that music can be our greatest healer” Cryus said about Grande in the quote that was included in the publication. But that was far from the first time Cyrus had kind things to say about Grande.
“You’re an angel, Ariana Grande,” Cyrus said reverently as the pair performed a truly spectacular duet cover of the song “Don’t Dream It’s Over” to launch Cyrus’ charity, The Happy Hippy Foundation. Cyrus even admitted to flirting with Grande when she cutely forgot to come in on her part of the song. Months later, Cyrus returned the favor by again performing the duet during Grande’s benefit concert in Manchester following the tragic suicide bombing that occurred at her concert.
No Tears Left To Cry
But Cyrus’ support of Grande didn’t end there. While promoting her song “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” on BBC radio, Cyrus managed to surprise and delight fans by choosing to cover Grande’s hit song “No Tears Left To Cry”. Slowing down the melody, Cyrus put her gravely southern charm on the song, leaving millions of people in chills. It’s a cover that’s just as good as the original. Grande seemed to agree and instantly tweeted out her support, ‘I love that voice and soul so much.”
A real friendship
However, music isn’t the only way Cyrus shows support of the “One Last Time” singer. Back in December of 2018, Cyrus was questioned about whether or not she and Grande would team up again an collaborate on new music. Cyrus effectively dodged the question, but still took the opportunity to be a complete stan. “I just want to go to the club with her. I want to like play our new songs and go to the club. It sounds really fun, I’ve been trying to get her to go to the club with me” Cyrus admitted in an interview with SiriusXM.
The “Mother’s Daughter” singer then went on to say that she was trying to build a deeper relationship with Grande, one that was based in real friendship rather than professional working experiences. “You know for me, I’ve been trying to start, like, a real relationship and not try to ask her to work or try to collaborate too much. I feel like she needs a friend, I could use a friend and I would love to just start that relationship with her” Cyrus confessed.
The pair definitely seems to have cultivated a real friendship, but they are also giving fans what they want by collaborating on a new song. Joining forces with singer, Lana Del Rey, they created a new song for the new Charlie’s Angels film. “Can’t wait for everyone to hear what me and my angels Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey created.” Cryus wrote in a caption.
Women supporting women
We love that these two multi-talented artists are so supportive of one another. In an industry where women are often pitted against one another, especially when they are so close in age and have similar career trajectories, it’s great that these two go out of their way publicly show love to each other. We can only hope others in the industry follow their lead.
