Miley Cyrus has been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community for years. As a queer performer herself, Cyrus is also a fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race and the countless drag queens who have shown off their talents on TV over the years, even appearing as a guest judge herself.

Miley Cyrus’s 2021 ‘Stand By You’ concert

For her 2021 Pride concert, titled “Stand By You,” Cyrus invited a flock of drag queens to perform alongside her, including RuPaul’s Drag Race alumnae Jaidynn Diore Fierce and Kylie Sonique Love.

A clip from behind the scenes of the concert rehearsals showed just how honored Cyrus was to have Love there. “I was writing our little monologues, and I wanted to say that I was your drag daughter, but I couldn’t say it unless I really was Miley Sonique Love,” Cyrus said. “I want to be your drag daughter!”

“Yes, of course you can be my drag daughter!” Love said, hugging the “Midnight Sky” singer. Just like other drag mothers (or house mothers in the world of ballroom), Love promised “anything you need” to Cyrus.

Cyrus was nervous to ask Love to be her drag mother, and they both laughed about their hearts pounding.

“Miley Sonique Love — get into it!” Love smiled.

Kylie Sonique Love and Miley Cyrus’ relationship

Cyrus’ friendship with Love dates back years before the Hannah Montana star got behind the judges’ table.

For her 2015 performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, Cyrus recruited a squad of 30 fierce drag performers to join her onstage for her performance of “Dooo It!” Among them were Drag Race stars Alyssa Edwards, Shangela, Alexis Mateo, Courtney Act, Carmen Carrera, Delta Work, Jasmine Masters, Jaidynn Diore Fierce, Jiggly Caliente, Laganja Estranja, Gia Gunn, Jessica Wild, Mariah Paris Balenciaga, Monica Beverly Hillz, Miss Fame, Violet Chachki, Pandora Boxx, Victoria “Porkchop” Parker, Pearl, Tammie Brown, Trinity K. Bonet, Willam, Vivacious, and Kylie Sonique Love.

During her Stand By You concert, Cyrus brought Love onstage for her rendition of Guess Who’s “American Woman.” The sexy southern queen danced and flipped her hair and even sealed her and Cyrus’ performance with a kiss.

Kylie Sonique Love on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars’

Love is back in the spotlight in 2021 as a contestant on the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars. Love returned to the competition nearly a decade after being the first trans woman to come out on the show. On All Stars season 6, she’s joined by Jiggly Caliente, Pandora Boxx, and Trinity K. Bonet — fellow queens from Cyrus’ 2015 VMA performance.

Love said herself that she’s been “waiting for this second chance forever,” and many fans of the show believe she’s long overdue for recognition. She’s already improved on her record from her original run on Drag Race, placing in the top for the first time ever.

One of Love’s biggest fans is RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13 runner-up Kandy Muse. In a 2021 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Muse said honestly that she was rooting for Kylie Sonique Love “because we need our first [American] trans winner.”
