The net worth of Mischa Barton, a former child actor, may be surprising. Keep reading to learn about Barton’s current and past acting credits as well as her feelings about a reboot of The O.C.

Mischa Barton’s birthplace

Born Mischa Anne Marsden Barton on January 24, 1986, in London, England, Barton moved to New York at a young age, according to IMDb.

Barton’s early acting roles

The now 33-year-old actress began her craft in the 1990s. Her first major film role came in 1997 when she landed a part in Lawn Dogs opposite Sam Rockwell. From there she went on to appear in The Sixth Sense (1999), Notting Hill (1999), and others.

Her time on ‘The O.C.’

At the age of 17, Barton started playing It girl, Marissa Cooper, on The O.C., Fox’s drama about teens growing up in Orange County, California. She exited the series in Season 3 because she felt a happy ending wasn’t realistic for her character, she later said.

She’s also said the role may have been holding her back professionally.

“I just had a lot in my career that I wanted to do and accomplish. I felt like things were really heavily reliant upon me, and I was getting no time to do any of the other offers that were out there,” Barton said.

More than a decade since the show’s ended, Barton’s expressed interest in revisiting her most famous character. She’s “more than willing to resurrect Marissa and make that happen,” Barton said when asked if she’d participate in a reboot during a recent interview with InStyle

After she left The O.C., Barton dealt with substance abuse, got a DUI, and came under fire legally but continued working on other acting gigs but none proved to be as successful as playing Cooper.

What is Mischa Barton doing now?

Barton joined the cast of The Hills: New Beginnings, MTV’s reboot of their hit reality series, The Hills, even though she initially believed the offer to be a joke. The show airs every Monday night on MTV.

Barton’s connection to the show runs deep. She starred in The O.C., a show that led to the creation of Laguna Beach, a program about “the real Orange County,” which paved the way for The Hills and The Hills: New Beginnings

Since signing on for a reality series — her first — Barton’s been open about how hard it is to be herself and open up on camera as opposed to playing a fictional character.

She noted in an interview earlier this year, she now respects those who star in reality TV shows. “You’re not just putting your life out there, but you’re managing every aspect of it, from hair and makeup to wardrobe and events. It’s a lot,” she said.

Over the course of Season 1, Barton learned how to be more vulnerable in front of cameras and has since said the experience has been fun despite being thrown in the deep end of reality TV.

Premiering in June of 2019, The Hills: New Beginnings has been renewed for a second season.

What’s Mischa Barton’s net worth?

Barton’s net worth has been estimated to be between $1 and $3 million. Undoubtedly, her net worth will have increased in 2019 as a result of her role on The Hills: New Beginnings. It’s likely she earned much of her fortune on The O.C. in the early 2000s. She had lucrative endorsement deals with brands such as Neutrogena and Keds.
