‘Money Heist: Korea’ makes some modifications to its leading characters, like Tokyo

The first season of Money Heist: Korea is currently six episodes. Within the episodes, fans meet a group of renegade thieves brought together by the Professor (Yoo). Their goal? Rob the Royal Mint in the Joint Economic Area. Instead of robbing already fabricated money, they will make their own.

The drama is narrated by Tokyo (Jeon Jong-seo), a soldier from North Korea, a die-hard BTS fan, and a wanted thief. She joins the group, who all follow the rules of using cities as code names and keeping their personal lives a secret. The Professor meticulously planned the heist to the very last detail.

By the finale of Money Heist: Korea, everyone is in good spirits as they move on to the next phase of their plan. Fans have high hopes of a Money Heist: Korea Season 2 as there are five seasons of the original series.

Looking at the parallels in the storyline between the K-drama and Money Heist, fans have an idea of where the second season could begin. The heist team is well into their plan as Moscow (Lee Won-jong) reveals he has successfully mined through the bank floor. The drama ends on a cliffhanger when Moo-hyuk (Kim Sung-oh) visits the Professor.

But fans are eager to know if a Money Heist: Korea Season 2 is in the works. Actor Yoo gave away that the cast filmed more episodes than what was in the first season.

In an interview with Elle Magazine, according to Soompi, Yoo explains the difference between the two series. “Two seasons’ worth of plot from the original version were condensed into just 12 episodes [for our remake]. There’s no exposition for exposition’s sake, and we only deliver the key plot points as necessary. There’s a certain pleasure that comes from the fast-paced plot development,” said Yoo.

The K-drama has six episodes, and by Yoo’s statement, the cast has already filmed Money Heist: Korea Season 2. But Money Heist has a total of five seasons and a new heist. It is unclear if the K-drama will adapt the entire series.
