Avengers: Endgame brought the Infinity Saga to a close after over a decade of movies, and now Marvel has to create the next great saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s story.

With so many important characters leaving the MCU seemingly for good, Marvel also has to set up and introduce a bunch of brand-new characters into the MCU. That’s what Marvel’s doing on Disney+, as Marvel is currently creating a ton of new shows on Disney+ that feature new characters or lesser-known side characters.

However, since the MCU primarily happens in the movies, many of these shows are only slated for one season. Marvel fans think that these shows should actually last longer than that, and here’s why.

The future of Marvel’s Disney+ shows

Currently, Marvel has three shows for Disney+ that’s either currently filming or has finished filming. These three shows are WandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki.

All three of these shows focus on side characters that weren’t really explored in the main MCU movies. These shows are supposed to dive deeper into those characters, but at the same time, Marvel probably has bigger plans for them in the movies.

As a result, all three of those shows are considered to be a limited series, and as such, they probably won’t get a season two. That’s likely the case for the upcoming Marvel shows that are based on brand-new characters, too. Those shows include the shows about Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel.

What these future Marvel shows will be about

Unlike WandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, or Loki, the future Marvel shows on Disney+ will have to introduce brand-new characters into the MCU. At the same time, Marvel probably wants to tell a good and compelling story for the first season of those shows.

It’s unclear what Marvel will do for each of those stories, but as the Marvel TV shows on Netflix have shown, the first season will more than likely be about the superhero’s origin story. While every superhero’s origin story is an important part of their identity, Marvel definitely has more stories to tell about each of those characters besides how they became a superhero.

For example, Ms. Marvel is the superhero name of Kamala Khan, and like Spider-Man, she has a lot of great stories that have to do with her identity and how it conflicts with her personal and family life. Those ideas can be explored in the first season of her show, but she still has a lot of stories to tell after that’s done.

This is the same for Moon Knight and She-Hulk, and Moon Knight has an additional hurdle since he’s not a very popular character to begin with. As a result, Disney may have to work hard to get some Marvel fans to care about Moon Knight.

Why Marvel fans want more than 1 season

That’s ultimately why Marvel fans on Reddit want Marvel to make more than one season for these brand-new characters. Their solo shows have to do a lot, and it’d be easier to tell their stories over multiple seasons rather than just one.

As one fan wrote: “Said this before but this, She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel should get 3 seasons at least. I’d still like them to get solo time even after they appear in the movies.”

Obviously, since this is the MCU, their stories can and will be shown in the movies. However, some stories simply work better over a TV show than a movie. TV shows are a great way to develop a character since TV shows give each character more screen time than a movie would.

As such, Marvel fans want to see these brand-new Marvel shows get about three seasons. These shows would be a good way to continue the stories of those characters after they show up in the movies, and of course, it’d give Marvel fans more stuff to watch.
