Chase Severino and Whitney Way Thore’s relationship has been under scrutiny from fans

Since the beginning of their whirlwind romance, many fans have questioned Severino and Thore’s relationship. Some were convinced their relationship was fabricated for the TLC series.

“I think this show should be called ‘My Big Fat Fake Fabulous Lie’ because it is SO bogus,” a Reddit user said.

Others believed they were in love and going to get married. But after Thore shared the news of their breakup on Instagram, rumors continued to swirl. When the “Wedding Bells Are Ringing” episode of season 8 aired Nov. 10, My Big Fat Fabulous Life fans took to Reddit to discuss the couple’s lack of affection.

“What engaged couple never touches like Chase and Whit?” one fan asked. This fan noticed how Thore and Severino’s public displays of affection were limited. If and when they were intimate with each other, this fan says it was because Thore initiated it.

Chase Severino broke down in front of ‘MBFFL’ cameras

During the “Whitney Confronts Chase” episode of season 8, Severino opened up about the hate he received online after his and Thore’s breakup.

“This should be one of the more magical announcements [and] moments of my life and it’s just — you get hit hard with all that hate from everyone,” Severino said. “It’s not supposed to be like that. This kind of announcement isn’t supposed to be a little note post and floods of hate. It’s not supposed to be like that, and that sucks.”

After speaking with Ryan Andreas about not having one on “Team Chase,” Severino broke down in front of cameras.

“I’m sorry,” a tearful Severino said. “I’m sorry it turned out the way it did. But I just want people to know that I’m not out to get Whitney or anything like that. I’ve received some horrible, horrible, mean stuff and it’s just…it’s hurtful.”

Whitney Way Thore asked fans to leave Chase Severino alone

On Dec. 15, Thore asked fans not to spread hate online with a text image that read: “Don’t be a jerk to people you don’t know on the internet.”

“Reminder,” she captioned the Instagram post. “I don’t care if it’s my dog or my ex-boyfriend or my dad. I don’t want or need to hear it and you ought not waste your time — save your energy for people you actually know!”

It’s unclear if fans have listened to Thore’s request, but many are even more convinced that Severino and Thore’s relationship was fake because of the way he reacted on the show.

Many fans don’t buy Chase Severino’s tears

Some fans were shocked by Severino during the episode, wondering how he expected fans to react in that situation.

“I’m in the camp that it’s fake,” a fan said on Reddit, adding:

What exactly was he going to say on a show that he’s paid to be on? Asking for the hate to stop is like the only thing he can do on a show where he’s being portrayed as the cheater.

And given that he/Ryan are censoring his girlfriend’s name in posts and Whitney was even asking people not to say/direct hate at him, it must have been really bad. I’m mind boggled at the amount of people who think it’s real. It is so blatantly fake, it’s insane.

Despite what fans have theorized about the authenticity of their relationship, Thore stands by the fact that her hurt feelings are true.
