My Big Fat Fabulous Life is a TLC reality show that follows the life of Whitney Thore, a woman who is on a mission to promote body positivity and learn to love yourself no matter what skin you are in. The show doesn’t just feature Whitney Thore, but also her parents, Glenn Thore and Barbara Thore, her brother Hunter Thore, and a handful of her closest friends.

With season 8 and current episodes, the show has addressed Whitney Thore’s most recent breakup, the dynamics within her friendships, and her concern with her parents. What fans are curious to know is why Hunter Thore is appearing on many more recent episodes than he used to.

Hunter Thore has appeared in many recent episodes of the show

Hunter Thore has appeared in at least one episode each season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, however, it is usually a brief appearance while visiting his parents. What fans have noticed over seasons 8 and 9 is that Hunter Thore is being featured in nearly every episode, either at home with his parents or helping Whitney Thore out, like when he sat in on her appointment with a doctor for a weight loss surgery consultation.

There is a simple explanation for his more frequent appearances on the show. At the start of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Thore moved back to Greensboro, North Carolina to be with his parents. This was at a time when Whitney Thore was still living in Charlotte, more than an hour away from her parents, and didn’t want to travel and potentially expose herself or her parents to the virus.

Now that everyone is vaccinated, Whitney Thore brought up the fact in a recent episode of the show that it was time for Hunter Thore to move back to New York and live his own life again, causing Whitney Thore to continue the discussion for moving her parents from their upstairs master bedroom to the first level of their home.

Hunter Thore isn’t just famous for being Whitney Thore’s brother and appearing on My Big Fat Fabulous Life. Although he appears in at least a couple of episodes of My Big Fat Fabulous Life each season, he is not a full-time reality star like his sister.

In his professional life, Hunter Thore is an actor and musician based in New York City. He plays as a guitarist with the New York-based band Plague of Jackals and has appeared in a handful of movie shorts and television series. He played Drake in Skeleton Crew and Jesse in Demon Doctor. Thore also appeared in a 2023 episode of Blue Bloods.

Whitney and Hunter disagree about moving their parents downstairs

The one issue that fans have noticed most taking place throughout the Thore family is the question of whether Hunter Thore and Whitney Thore’s parents should move to the master bedroom downstairs. Whitney Thore is in favor of the move because both of her parents have had falls down the stairs, and Whitney Thore’s mother is still dealing with health issues stemming from her stroke and her most recent fall while walking to attend her COVID vaccination appointment. Whitney Thore is encouraging the move because of Hunter Thore’s plans to go back to New York and continue with his career.

Hunter Thore, however, is on the other side of the argument. He believes that his parents will know when the right time is to make the move to living full-time on the first floor of their home. He does not want to pressure his parents into doing something they are not quite ready for. Their parents are still adamant that they do not need to move to the downstairs bedroom quite yet.
