As the marketing and press junkets ramp up for Stranger Things 4, the more hints fans get from the stars regarding their characters’ stories in the upcoming season. While we would never call Stranger Things a romantic series, the show isn’t without its relationship drama. Whether you’re Team Mileven, Team Jancy, or Team Lumax, you probably have a preference on who you hope the characters end up with in the finale. Many thought Steve (Joe Keery) and Nancy’s (Natalia Dyer) relationship had gone the way of the dinosaur, but Dyer gave fans a glimmer of hope in a recent interview. Will fans see a Stancy reunion in Stranger Things 4?

Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler broke up in ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2

The creators of the show, Ross and Matt Duffer, gave Steve one of the best character arcs out of everyone in Stranger Things Season 1. Even though initially written as a bully, Keery’s portrayal of Steve charmed so many people that the Duffers decided to rewrite his part. Now, he’s a fan favorite.

When we first met Steve, he and Nancy had recently begun dating. However, she and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) develop a connection throughout season 1. By the start of Stranger Things Season 2, Nancy can’t deal with Barb’s death and feels like Steve isn’t helping her with the situation. The couple parts ways, and Nancy heads directly to Jonathan.

Jancy prevailed throughout seasons 2 and 3, even though they hit a bump in the road when the men at the local newspaper mistreat Nancy. However, at the end of season 3, Jonathan’s move to California with his family looked like it might put a bit of a strain on their relationship.

Natalia Dyer teased a potential Stancy reunion in ‘Stranger Things 4’

With Jonathan in California, and the Upside Down wreaking havoc on Hawkins, Stranger Things 4 gives Nancy and Steve plenty of opportunities to rekindle their romance. The full-length trailer for the upcoming season shows at least one scene with just Nancy and Steve as they prepare to enter the Upside Down.

In a recent interview, Extra’s Katie Krause asked Dyer about the chance of a Stancy reconciliation. “I don’t know. It’s just one of those things where I want what makes the most sense,” Dyer said through a grin as Maya Hawke, Joseph Quinn, and Keery chuckled beside her.

Dyer continued, “I definitely think its a [Duffer] Brother question, and I do trust them about where they take these characters.”

Keery also piped up with some thoughts about Stancy in Stranger Things 4.

“It’s definitely fun to work together again,” Keery told Krause. “It really brought me back. You know, you [Dyer] were kind of my first scene partner so that was really fun this year to do that. We [Keery and Dyer] talked about that a while ago. Who knows? I want the best conclusion for any of the characters, so, we’ll see.”
