Nene Leakes Scores New Show, Is Her ‘RHOA’ Exit Next?
Nene Leakes is the star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta but her peach isn’t secure for next season. There have been multiple rumblings that the reality TV personality is ready to quit as she is not happy on the show anymore. Furthermore, it was just reported that the Glee alum has scored a new show on the E! network and many fans think she is ready to exit Bravo for good.
What is Nene Leakes’ new show?
Leakes rose to fame thanks to her bigger than life persona on Bravo’s RHOA. The TV personality has thrived and the Housewives franchise afforded her other opportunities into the acting and singing world. One of the shows she did in the past was Fashion Police for the E! network.
The star was part of a revamped panel after Joan Rivers’ passing. Leakes starred alongside Melissa Riveras, Giuliana Rancic, Margeret Cho, and Brad Goreski. It’s with the latter stylist that Leakes is going to be part of a new competition series on the same cable network.
E! announced that they had greenlit Glamsquad Showdown, a new competition series with Leakes and Goreski. The show would see the “glam squads” of two celebrity friends go head-to-head in front of a live studio audience, according to Deadline.
The two glam squads pull makeover subjects out of the audience as they go head-to-head in two raucous makeover challenges in hopes of earning ultimate beauty bragging rights and prize money for charity.
Leakes is also set to guest star on Celebrity Call Center that premieres on Monday, July 13 at 10 p.m. ET. The show will allow ordinary people to receive advice from celebrity personalities. Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker from RHOA are also set to guest star on the series.
Is Nene Leakes quitting ‘RHOA’ next?
With a new show on the horizon, many feel that Leakes is laying the groundwork to leave RHOA for good. The E! show is only in development and has not been ordered to series just yet. However, having another show doesn’t mean they have to leave the Housewives world either.
Burruss recently won the latest season of The Masked Singer, while still showing up to film RHOA. The singer and producer also filmed a cameo for HBO’s Insecure and has a recurring role in Showtime’s The Chi.
Leakes could surely handle hosting duties on Glamsquad Showdown and continue to beef with her RHOA co-stars. Although recently there were rumors that the “tastiest peach” was not coming back to the Bravo reality series, those reports were quickly shut down.
“It is absolutely not true that Nene has been fired from RHOA,” Leakes’ rep, Steven Grossman, told People in a statement. “Furthermore, it was made abundantly clear prior that she will always be welcome on the series as long as she wants to be.”
Grossman also said that Leakes is having a bigger conversation with NBC Universel and “have not made any decisions regarding next season specifically. Any speculation or sources trying to create controversy by stating otherwise are incredibly inaccurate. Bloop.”
