Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’re like us, we’re usually running around at the last minute trying to find a costume. Let’s not be those people this year. Let’s plan ahead. If you’re a binge-watching pro (And really, who’s not after the disaster that was 2020?), you might be interested in some Netflix-inspired Halloween costumes.

There’s more potential than ever to show up at your Halloween party (in-person or virtual) and have people staring in awe at your costume. From Squid Game to Bridgerton to Stranger Things, here are some ideas for Halloween 2021.

The contestants in 'Squid Game' wear turquoise track suits like in this production still and could be an easy Halloween costume.

‘Squid Game’ might be the easiest costume to pull off

Netflix’s newest K-drama Squid Game premiered on Sept. 17 and since then has become the streaming platform’s most-watched show in 90 countries. The characters in the series must compete in children’s games like Red Light, Green Light for a chance to win enough money to pay off their massive amounts of debt. The catch is that if they lose the game, they die. Quite the step up from the consequences in the actual games.

But if you’re looking to dress up as a player from the series, all you’ll need is a tracksuit or just a sweatshirt and pants of the same color. Slap a number on your chest, and voila! You now have a Squid Game Halloween costume.

‘Bridgerton’ costumes will let you get dressed to the nines for a night

The Shonda Rhimes series Bridgerton is filled with a little bit of everything. Romance, comedy, and drama are all part of the show set in 1800s London. The show centers around the Bridgerton family as oldest daughter Daphne makes her debut on the highly competitive marriage market.

Daphne often wears blue on the show as this represents her family’s high standing in society. Empire waists, capped sleeves, and scoop necks were all the rage back then. A pair of satin gloves and pinning your hair up in tight curls will give you her signature look for a Halloween costume.

If you’ve got your eyes on imitating the handsome Simon Basset, you’ll need a high collared buttondown shirt along with a black vest. The Duke usually sports the colors red and gold as a nod to his noble lineage. Plus, he’s always seen with a green brooch, so you want to keep that in mind as well. You’ll be the talk of the town in either of these Halloween costumes, and you get the bonus of using the highly outdated term “marriage market” through the night.

‘Stranger Things’ has plenty of Halloween costume options for anyone wanting to step back into the ’80s for the night

Stranger Things has been a popular Netflix-inspired Halloween costume choice since the season premiered in 2016. The show, set in 1980s small-town Hawkins, Indiana. It features a group of teens as they navigate the awkward days of puberty along with actual monsters trying to end the world. Talk about stress.

The looks from each season are pretty different, so you have plenty of choices. You could always go with Eleven’s iconic look from Stranger Things Season 1. In Mike’s attempt to help her fit in at Hawkins Middle School, he gives her a pink dress with a white Peter Pan collar along with the classic tube socks from the 80s. Grab a box of Eggos, and you’re good to go.

Stranger Things Season 2 sees Eleven take on a much more punk look, complete with black eyeliner smudged under her eyes, tight-rolled jeans, and as much black clothing she can find. A plain black shirt and jacket, skinny jeans, and some white Chuck Taylors complete the look.

For the guys, Stranger Things Season 3 is probably the easiest to imitate. However, depending on where you live, you might be chilly. The season takes place in the summer of 1985. So, grab a pair of extra short shorts and a collard Izod shirt, and you could be any member of The Party.

Halloween is always exciting for those of us who love getting into character. Now streaming platforms have given us tons of inspiration. With these Netflix-inspired Halloween costumes, you’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who isn’t impressed with your outfit for the night.
