The Witcher is probably one of Netflix’s most highly anticipated series. Sometimes, Netflix originals drop with little fanfare or excitement. That is definitely not the case with The Witcher.

The show is so exciting for many that some may wonder why. What is it about this show that people are connecting with so much already? Let’s take a look at fan reactions to the trailer for Netflix’s The Witcher and explore why the show might be getting such an intense response.

What are fan reactions to Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ trailer?

Since the show is highly anticipated, many are probably wondering if it will live up to the hype. One fan on Twitter seems to be ready for the show already, stating that they are “hyped” for it. The trailer, according to this fan, is “so good.”

Another fan is really enjoying “how the trailer is playing it that Geralt won’t be the only focus of the show.” Though Geralt of Rivia is still the protagonist, fans are likely looking forward to getting more backstory and knowledge on characters like Yennefer of Vengerberg and Ciri. Yet another fan tweets that the trailer looks “very good” and they are getting “like a [Game of Thrones] meets [Lord of the Rings] vibe from it.” This is high praise indeed as both fantasy series are very successful and well-done.

At least, mostly well-done in the case of Game of Thrones. The fan from before goes on to say that they have “been looking forward to [the show] since it was announced and after seeing the trailer [they] can’t wait.” Sounds like fan reactions are good so far.

What else are fans saying about ‘The Witcher’?

People elsewhere on the Internet seem equally excited about the show. A discussion on Reddit shows just how excited fans are to see Henry Cavill as Geralt. One Reddit user said that”Netflix looks to be giving the fans what they want.”

Another Reddit fan mentions that Henry Cavill “moves with confidence” as Geralt. The fan believes that “the physical acting was going to be important to anyone portraying Geralt, and Cavill looks like he did very well.” Cavill definitely seems to be rather confident in the role. Probably because he is a fan of both the Witcher books and the games.

Why might fans be so excited?

We’re not claiming to know entirely, yet we can speculate based on fan reactions. Fantasy fans are, of course, excited for another story in the genre. Fans also seem to be looking forward to the show expanding on characters from the books such as Yennefer and Ciri.

Fans are probably excited to see the development of what showrunner Lauren Hissrich calls, the “disjointed family” of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri. These three characters seem to need each other but none of them want to admit it. Fans are also probably excited to see Henry Cavill as Geralt, as he is a fan of The Witcher books and games.

The show seems to be on the right track with many fans, based on the reactions to this trailer. Netflix may have a hit with The Witcher. We’ll just have to wait and see.
