While Nintendo delayed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 to 2023, they did tease fans with new BOTW 2 footage. Link wields a gnarled, corrupted Master Sword on one of the floating islands above Hyrule. His clothes have Triforce imagery across them. The new Legend of Zelda clips only lasted a few seconds, but Nintendo Switch fans needed little else to fire up the engine of the Breath of the Wild 2 theories.

1 new theory for ‘Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2’ suggests Ganondorf corrupts Link with his own hand

In the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, new footage, clips, and images gave players a closer look at Link, the Master Sword, and his corrupted arm from the BOTW 2 trailer.

However, when one fan on Reddit saw the hand, they immediately thought it was Ganondorf’s hand.

The ancient Gerudo king has ornate jewelry across his body, including rings on his hooked fingers. The fan pointed out the similarities between the BOTW 2 Ganondorf hand and Link’s arm in the new clips. If the Breath of the Wild 2 theory proved true, the corruption could be even more sinister than fans thought.

While some fans agreed The Legend of Zelda characters had tangled, others said Link’s arm fused with the hand holding Ganondorf down in the trailer. However, the Ganon arm theory was not the wildest to spring up from the new Nintendo video.

The new ‘Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2’ footage has fans theorizing that Princess Zelda is dead

Another theory speculated a story plot similar to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past or Spirit Tracks.

Several fans claimed that Link would not save Princess Zelda. She would return as a spirit following the cave collapse shown in the Breath of the Wild 2 trailer. However, she would still accompany Link through a psychic connection or possibly even enhance his Shiekah Slate abilities.

They even suggested that Zelda could fill a role similar to Fi in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. In the Nintendo Wii game, Link forged the Goddess Sword into the Master Sword with the help of the spirit Fi.

The theory suggests Princess Zelda herself could help repair the Master Sword and Link himself to confront Ganondorf.

Some Nintendo fans recognized Gerudo Tribe-like symbols from the first ‘BOTW 2’ trailers

One more prominent Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 theory the new footage brought about revolves around the mysterious symbols. Nintendo fans made out some kind of symbol on the back of Link’s fan. However, the theories have not yet cracked their meaning.

Other symbols strengthen an older Zelda theory about the spell or curse placed on Ganondorf comes from the Gerudo or Zonai Tribe.

The Ganondorf feature in the Breath of the Wild 2 trailers is a Gerudo, just like he was in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. If the symbols play an important role, they could reveal more about the mysterious Zonai Tribe or tease more stories with the Gerudo.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was delayed again. However, it has not stopped fans from concocting new theories to explore.
