Just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you always get what you want. That is something Nick Cannon knows all too well as he previously admitted to getting rejected by his celebrity crush, Beyoncé, back in the day.

Nick Cannon tried to shoot his shot with Beyoncé during her Destiny’s Child days

Everyone wanted to date Beyoncé when she first rose to fame with Destiny’s Child, and Nick Cannon was no different.

Back in 2017, the comedian revealed on Instagram that he used to be in love with Bey during her Destiny Child days and had even tried to ask her out during one of their early encounters.

“Even in the 90’s I was always shootin’ my shot!” Cannon captioned a photo of his younger self trying to convince Beyoncé to give him a chance.

Though Cannon looked like he was indeed trying, Beyoncé wasn’t interested in dating him and quickly down his advances.

“Beyoncé was looking at me like ‘Little boy, please,'” Cannon continued, adding that Bey’s dad, Mathew Knowles, wasn’t into his attempts to snag his daughter either. “In my teenage days I used to stalk Destiny’s Child! LOL Poppa Knowles was not feeling me at all!!”

Both have since gotten married to famous A-listers

Though Cannon went down an ambitious man after trying to ask out Beyoncé, he still went on to date high-profile celebrities — and even married one after just six weeks of dating.

In 2005, Cannon met singer Mariah Carey at the Teen Choice Awards. Three years later, he starred in her “Bye, Bye” music video and sparks flew. After dating for a few weeks, Cannon and Carey surprised everyone when they tied the knot on the singer’s private island in the Bahamas.

In April 2011, on their third wedding anniversary, the couple welcomed their twins, Moroccan and Monroe. Unfortunately, Cannon and Carey’s love story didn’t last much longer after that because, in late 2014, the Wild ‘N Out host filed for divorce from the “Always Be My Baby” singer.

Two years later, their divorce was finalized.

As for Beyoncé, she also went on to marry a fellow A-lister. In 2004, it was confirmed that she was dating rapper Jay-Z after they attended that year’s BET awards together.

Four years later, the pair wed during an exclusive — and private — ceremony held inside the rapper’s New York City penthouse. In 2012, they welcomed their daughter, Blue Ivy, and in 2017, the “Halo” singer gave birth to twins, Sir and Rumi, which surprised everyone.

Today, Bey and Jay are still happily married. Though they’ve experienced all kinds of drama together — from infidelity to family feuds — they always put a united front, which is probably how they’ve stayed together all these years.

Cannon previously shared some of his parenting wisdom with the Queen Bey

Although she rejected him back in the day, Cannon has no hard feelings toward Beyoncé. In fact, the comedian previously gave the singer advice about raising twins before she welcomed her own while sitting down with People in February 2017.

“Beyoncé: twins, for the first two years, very difficult,” Cannon addressed the hitmaker. “After that, it’s like … they operate themselves. They have each other, so you don’t have to worry about it.”

He added, “When you have one kid, you want to make sure they have a playmate. Twins help each other.”
