One aspect of this offscreen persona is his many, many relationships. However, you might be surprised to know exactly how many of these relationships have resulted in children. How many kids does Nicolas Cage have?
Cage is known for his many relationships and almost as many marriages. Some were short, some were long, but all had their memorable moments. Despite this, however, you may be surprised to know that Nicolas Cage only has two kids at the moment.
His first child is Weston Cage Coppola, who was born to Cage and his then-girlfriend Christina Fulton in 1990. The two had started dating two years prior but never officially tied the knot before breaking up a year after their son was born. After their separation, Fulton took custody for the first 18 years of Weston’s life, reportedly thinking Cage was a bad influence on him and not wanting them near each other. As an adult, though, the two Cage men have spent a lot more time together. Weston is also responsible for his father’s two grandsons.
His second child is Kal-El Cage, born to Cage and his third wife, Alice Kim. Kal-El (obviously named after Superman, who Cage is a noted fan of) was born in October 2005, a little over a year after his parents were married.
Cage has another child on the way with his current wife
Early in 2021, Cage married his current wife, a woman named Riko Shibata. According to tabloid photos, the two had been dating since sometime early in 2020 before deciding to marry about a year later.
In January 2022, news broke that Cage and Shibata are expecting their first child together — meaning that Nicolas Cage will soon be a father of three kids.
While the story was initially told by a representative, Cage himself soon replied in an email exchange with Today to doubly confirm things. “It’s true, and we are very happy,” he stated. Further details aren’t known at the time, including how far along things are, though everyone certainly wishes the couple well.
Exactly how many times has Cage been married?
To date, Cage has been married five times. Not counting his long-term relationship with Fulton, the first of these was with Patricia Arquette in 1995, with their relationship officially ending six years later in 2001. Their relationship seemed to be fraught with problems, as they’d reportedly threatened divorce multiple times before deciding to end things around 2000.
His second marriage was to Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the King himself. Cage is a fan of Elvis, though this didn’t seem to help the strength of the relationship overall. Their union both began and ended in a little over 100 days in 2002, although the divorce wasn’t finalized until 2004.
As covered before, his third marriage was to Alice Kim and has so far been his longest lasting. The two dated and officially married only a few months after his divorce from Presley. Despite their relationship ending in 2016, Cage and Kim seem to have maintained a close friendship as they co-parent their son. Kim even attended Cage’s next two weddings.
After that, he married Erika Koike in March of 2019, annulling the marriage a surprising four days later and fully divorcing in June. Fifth and finally, there’s Shibata, with whom Cage is expecting his third child.
