Britney Spears has been making headlines for the past few months, and it seems that almost everyone is glued to the news to see what will unfold next. Even those who are in the spotlight have an opinion, and they aren’t afraid to take to social media and even sit down in interviews to discuss how they are feeling. Now, singer Olivia Rodrigo is speaking out — and she is doing whatever it takes to make sure her voice does not go unheard.

According to Geo TV, the 18-year-old Rodrigo is claiming that the treatment of females in the industry isn’t improving, and when it comes to Britney Spears, she is weighing in by saying that the whole situation is “just horrific.”

GQ reports that the singer recently opened up in an interview, going so far as to say that “The Britney stuff was just horrific, and I’ve been following it very closely. I think it’s just so awful.” 

She goes on to talk about the bullying and manipulation of young women, saying that “it’s still so apparent, and I witness that.” It was interesting to hear what Rodrigo had to say, as she is so adamant about mental health and defending the rights of women, and wonderful that she isn’t afraid to talk openly about it. Of the issue, she says that:

“That’s always been something that I’ve been really conscious of in my own career, and I’m really lucky I’m surrounded by people who are conscious of that and conscious of my mental health being the most important thing. You can’t make art and have a good career if you’re not there.”

A closer look at Britney Spears and her conservatorship

Spears’ conservatorship has been anything but easy. She hasn’t been in control of her own finances for over a decade, and BBC News says that she wasn’t happy about it at all. Her father, Jamie Spears has been his daughter’s conservator, and the younger Spears has spoken about the restrictions that he has put on her over the years.

Spears’ dad was the conservator of not only her money, but of her as a person as well, and she recently made a request to have him completely removed from all of her affairs — without the hassle of undergoing a mental evaluation.
