NBC‘s One Chicago franchise is made up of three separate shows — Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med. Each show has their own unique cast of characters, so there’s a lot of actors involved in the One Chicago franchise. Creator Dick Wolf is a legend in the entertainment industry, known for his work on these shows and Law & Order. Although he’s never stated his favorite actor outright, it’s easy to guess from the amount of screen time this character gets.

Wolf is probably best known as the creator and executive producer of the Law & Order franchise. The original Law and Order sparked a whole host of spinoff series. It ran for 20 seasons, from 1990 to 2010. The show is actually going to be revived for a 21st season set to premiere in 2022.

Chicago Fire was originally created by Derek Haas in 2012. Dick Wolf was a writer and executive producer on the show. Wolf went on to create the spinoffs, Chicago P.D. (2014), Chicago Med (2015), and Chicago Justice (2017). While the shows intersect at times, they each contain their own set of unique characters. This character from Chicago P.D. might be Wolf’s favorite.

Is this Dick Wolf’s favorite One Chicago character?

Plenty of characters in Dick Wolf’s One Chicago universe cross over into other shows, but none as much as Jason Beghe’s Hank Voight. Voight first appeared as a bit of an antagonist on Chicago Fire, clashing often with Lieutenant Matthew Casey. Later, Beghe went on to star as the same character in the spinoff series Chicago P.D. The show focuses on Voight’s Intelligence Unit in the 21st District.

Looper points out that Voight has also cropped up in Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Justice, and Chicago Med. Beghe’s character has appeared in more of Wolf’s shows than any other character in the franchise. The outlet points out that the only other character who comes close is Jon Seda’s Antonio Dawson. Seda has appeared in every One Chicago show besides Chicago Med. Perhaps this hints that Beghe is one of Wolf’s favorite actor in the franchise.
