Filming for Hulu‘s Only Murders in the Building Season 2 is underway! Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez make up the unlikely murder-solving trio in the Hulu show, but as Martin revealed, the cast is growing in the new season. Martin recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo hinting at some “cast surprises” for the sophomore season of the Hulu series. Steve Martin reveals ‘great cast surprises’ for season 2 of ‘Only Murders in the Building’
“On the set of Only Murders in the Building Season 2,” Martin tweeted on Feb. 9, 2022. “Great cast surprises that are no longer surprises.”
The photo features Gomez, Short, and two other women, including Andrea Martin Jones (Difficult People). “Great to see Andrea,” a fan replied in the thread. “More Melonville, please.”
Andrea Martin Jones isn’t the only guest star appearing in season 2
Only Murders in the Building featured several guest stars in season 1, including Tina Fey, The Office’s Amy Ryan, and Glee’s Jane Lynch. As Deadline confirmed in January 2022, season 2 will feature even more guest stars.
Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer will appear in the new season of Only Murders in the Building. Plus, Nathan Lane will return as the villainous Teddy Dimas. Additionally, Cara Delevingne is shooting for the Hulu series.
“Before Christmas, [I shot scenes with] Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer,” Martin told the outlet. “The quality of actor that this show is attracting makes it endlessly fun to go to work.” Another recently announced addition to the season 2 cast is Carnival Row’s Cara Delevingne, who Gomez can’t wait to work with.
Cara Delevingne joins ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 2 cast
According to Elle, Delevingne will play a character named Alice in Only Murders in the Building, “a sophisticated art world insider who becomes enmeshed in the mystery.”
In a Dec. 6 interview with Extra, Gomez said she was “so excited” about working with Delevingne. “We just did our first day together yesterday, and it’s so much fun working with your friends,” she told the outlet, referencing how long it had been since they worked together. “It’s so fun! We were just dying of laughing most of the time because we just know each other so well.”

Outside of the season 2 casting reveal, Only Murders in the Building fans paid close attention to clues they think they spotted in Martin’s post. “Is Martin Short wearing an ankle monitor?” replied one fan, cropping the picture to reveal Short’s bulging sock. Someone else pointed out it’s probably a mic pack, but others think it has something to do with the season 2 plot.
Others noticed the photo appears to have been taken in a shower stall. “Are they in a carpeted shower with a mid-century sofa. With a strong wifi pw,” tweeted another fan, referencing the sign with the wifi credentials in the background. Whether or not any of this has to do with season 2 remains to be seen.
