It’s not uncommon for celebrities to have doppelgängers. In fact, many believe everyone has a twin somewhere. But it’s likelier and easier to notice when it involves famous people. Some find their doppelgänger in history, and some have a modern-day twin. Either way, it always comes as a shock to see side-by-side photos and find out they’re not even related. The same is true when for Orlando Bloom and his historical doppelgänger, Nicolae Grigorescu.

The Romanian artist was born a century before Bloom arrived and became the Hollywood star we know today.

Bloom has been making a splash in the industry for nearly three decades, taking on some of the most popular roles and making them his own. He debuted as Noel Harrison on the TV show Casualty for two years in the early ’90s before landing his first movie role as Rentboy in Wilde

Although they were his firsts, they weren’t his breakthroughs. The Hollywood actor found worldwide fame playing Legolas in the series The Lord of the Ring and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

He has won more than 20 awards, all of which came from his star turns as Legolas or Will Turner.

In his personal life, Bloom recently added another member to his family. Last August, he and his fiancée Katy Perry welcomed their first child together, Daisy Dove Bloom. She is Perry’s first and Bloom’s second.

The Nicolae Grigorescu connection

As much as you might want to believe he went down a similar path as Bloom, Nicolae Grigorescu was the founder of modern Romanian painting. He was active in the mid-to-late 1800s and early 1900s.

Some of his popular paintings include Cheerful Peasant Woman, Smârdan Attack, A Flower Among the Flowers, and Porträt des Großbanu Nasturel Herescu (1870).

According to MutualArt, “Grigorescu’s work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from $643 USD to $390,955 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2006, the record price for this artist at auction is $390,955 USD for Peasant Resting, sold at Artmark in 2011.”

The Hollywood superstar and the Romanian artist have strikingly similar hair, including the color, texture, and even style. They also share the same face shape, mouth, and eyes. On the other hand, their noses, chins, and eyebrows are a bit different, but not enough to distinguish the two easily.

Here are some other celebrities you’ll be shocked to see also have a doppelgänger. And some are in the same era and career.

TheTalko reports people often confuse Lucy Hale for “The Heart Wants What the Heart Wants” singer Selena Gomez. The actor has even had awkward encounters with Gomez’s fans wanting photos with her. That’s not Hale’s only doppelgänger, though. People have also confused for Sarah Hyland, Rachel Bilson, and Maizie Williams.

Other stunning celebrity lookalikes you won’t be able to unsee are Jennifer Lawrence and Bella Hadid, Nina Dobrev and Victoria Justice, and Millie Bobbie Brown and Natalie Portman.

Believe it or not, the list is actually quite long. Many stars have historical lookalikes like Orlando Bloom’s twin. And numerous celebrities have lookalikes similar in age and sometimes career, too. You wouldn’t believe how many stars aren’t related despite similarities and how many are related but look nothing alike.
