Other Comedians Are Not Surprised About the Predatory Allegations Towards Chris D’Elia
Actor and comedian Chris D’Elia has been accused of sexually harassing and grooming a number of underage women in a detailed Twitter thread. As more and more young women came forward, several comedians called D’Elia out. D’Elia has since denied the allegations.
Women accused Chris D’Elia of pursuing them when they were minors
On June 16, a Twitter user started a thread and alleged that D’Elia tried to groom her when she was 16 years old, but she did not meet up with him because she had a boyfriend at the time.
“for the longest time i thought it was embarrassing for ME that i was interacting with this older man but he was the one who DM’d me on twitter and was the one who was twice my age and was the one that used the power imbalance between us to his advantage so f*ck chris d’elia,” the Twitter user wrote.
Another Twitter account then began a thread where several women lodged allegations at D’Elia and posted screenshots of him exhibiting predatory behavior. A number of the women who came forward in the Twitter thread were minors at the time they claimed D’Elia was in contact with them.

In 2019, D’Elia had a reoccurring role in the second season of Netflix’s You where he played Joshua “Henderson” Bunter, a stand-up comedian who groomed underage women. He also played a pedophile in an episode of Workaholics in 2011. As the Twitter threads regarding D’Elia’s alleged sexual misconduct spread, several social media users cited the irony of D’Elia’s past roles.
“Chris Delia being cast as a pedophile and then being outed as a pedophile. Does life imitate art or does art imitate life,” wrote a Twitter user.
Some comedians did not come to Chris D’Elia’s defense
After the allegations were released, a number of comedians did not seem surprised. Instead of rushing to his defense, multiple comedians in the entertainment industry called D’Elia out for his behavior.
“this Chris D’Elia sh*t is wild, but I guess it’s always the first person you suspect,” tweeted comedy writer Django Gold.
“just remembering how conflicted the comedy community was over Louis CK because many of us liked him and his act. I’m looking but I see no conflicts on Twitter today lol,” comedian Laurie Kilmartin tweeted.
Former Saturday Night Live cast member Sasheer Zamata tweeted, “‘And I would’ve gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids!’ – Chris D’Elia.”
The comedian denied the allegations
On June 17, D’Elia released a statement to TMZ denying all of the allegations against him.
“I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point,” D’Elia said. “All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me. That being said, I really am truly sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault. I own it. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise I will continue to do better.”
