On June 30, TLC aired the OutDaughtered season finale — and it was unlike anything we’ve seen before. The episode was filmed entirely by Adam and Danielle Busby amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. And despite the current crisis, the family gave fans a bit of joy with birthday celebrations and Easter.

Nevertheless, some OutDaughtered viewers expressed disappointment because the reality series was cut short, ending with a total of four episodes in its seventh season. But recently on Instagram, Adam hinted the Busby family filmed more at home than what was shown on the TLC series. So get ready for more content soon.

Why did ‘OutDaughtered’ end after four episodes in 2020?

OutDaughtered fans are used to tagging along with Adam, Danielle, Blayke, and the quintuplets — Olivia Marie, Ava Lane, Hazel Grace, Parker Kate, and Riley Paige — for a full season. But as mentioned, the current cycle was cut short to four episodes because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Unfortunately we can’t exactly have a camera crew following us around and going places right now,” Adam wrote on Instagram in April 2020. “This COVID-19 pandemic has set us back with being able to make any new episodes. Hopefully this is over soon and everyone can get back to normal life and we can get back to making new episodes for you guys.”

At the time, the Busby patriarch also revealed there would be a special “self-shot” episode set to air during OutDaughtered.

Ahead of the OutDaughtered finale on June 30, Adam posted a teaser, which ended with Riley taking over the camera.

“This is the Riley Show Now,” Adam wrote in the caption of the Instagram video. “Tomorrow’s episode of @outdaughtered is the one that everyone has been waiting for. The complete self shot episode from us during the lockdown while the crew was away. You don’t wanna miss it!”

Of course, OutDaughtered fans were surprised the season — which began on June 2 — was airing its last episode. “Only 4 episodes?!?!” a fan commented. Then Adam responded, “Kinda hard to film a TV show during a global pandemic… Trust me if we had continued, we would have been vilified.”

Later, another viewer shared how much they loved the self-shot episode of OutDaughtered. “I wish you guys could have done more episodes like this! It would have been so much fun,” the fan wrote. “Having your show on TV really helps make the time go by and gives my family something to look forward to every week.”

In response, Adam confirmed the Busbys filmed a lot more than what fans saw in the OutDaughtered season finale. He also teased the family will release the content on their YouTube channel, It’s a Buzz World.

“Trust me, a LOT was not used from everything that we filmed,” Adam wrote on Instagram. “Keep notifications on for our YouTube. We have it coming there soon!”

The most-recent season of OutDaughtered may have come to a sudden end, but it’s clear the Busbys have plenty to share as the year progresses and we wait for news about the possibility of season 8. So stay tuned.
