The love between the Frasers is abundantly clear when they stumble upon a child that needs their help. The couple has to go and speak to the Beardsleys about Josiah and Keziah. They find Mr. Beardsley has suffered a stroke and his wife has been torturing him slowly.

Mrs. Beardsley gives birth while Claire is there to assist, but she leaves her old life and the child behind. Jamie shoots Mr. Beardsley upon his request and Claire takes the child. They get the sweet girl to a nursing mother and it seems she has a bright future ahead of her.

Jamie proves his love to Claire

When Jamie has a chance, he asks Claire if she’d like to raise the child together considering they were never able to be parents together. Claire reassures him that the baby will be happier with the family that wants to adopt her.

“Please know that if it’s at all possible, I love you even more for wanting to take the chance. I also regret that we were never parents together. Regret isn’t reason enough,” Claire explains. She goes on to say, “I am grateful for every day we have.”

The fact that Jamie wants to give his wife a child that she doesn’t have to “suffer carrying” goes to show how much he deeply loves her. He just wants to make her happy, and Claire knows it. She loves him even more for admitting it to her.
