Though Starz‘s P-Valley centers on the highly popular strip club, The Pynk, and the women who work there, other characters are just as important. In season 1, the club’s owner Uncle Clifford (Nicco Annan), found herself in a secret romance with Lil Murda (J. Alphonse Nicholson), a burgeoning rapper in Mississippi. Though Lil Murda had not been public about his sexuality, he’d assured Uncle Clifford that he wasn’t ashamed. However, when it came time to prove it, he failed.

Now in season 2, fans are preparing to watch Lil Murda go through a major transformation.

Who is Lil Murda on ‘P-Valley’?

When we first met Lil Murda, he was an up-and-coming rapper who frequented The Pynk. Desperate to get his music played, he wanted to entice Mercedes to dance to one of his songs. However, as DJ NevaScared (Brandon Gilpin) finally told Lil Murda, both his beats and rhymes needed some major work.

Eventually, the pair teamed up to come up with some quality songs, and we learned a bit more about Lil Murda. Though he wasn’t open about his sexuality, he soon struck up a romantic relationship with Uncle Clifford and the pair seemed to be happy.

However, when Clifford was acting too familiar one day at the club, Murda harshly rejected her which ended their romance. “It’s going to be very interesting to see how that relationship continues,” Annan told Entertainment Tonight. “Everybody needs love. And I think that that’s a part of what gave Clifford the energy or the strength to endure another day. That part I’m waiting to find out myself.”

Lil Murda goes through a major transformation in season 2

Now that season 2 has wrapped, P-Valley creator Katori Hall has revealed that Lil Murda will go through a major transformation in the new episodes. “In terms of the music for Lil Murda, we’re going to have four original songs for him,” she said in a YouTube video. “And, he’s gong on this amazing arc. The first season he came to the club and he was doing the usual, “B**** sit on my lap s***.’ But then he grew into an artist that talked about love and really dug in deep. And then by the end, he was doing those southern bangers and you know, the P-Valley sound is all about the dirty south. He spreads his wings, connecting with bigger artists and also becoming more innovative with his sound, and beginning to experiment. So you’re going to see a new kind of sound emerge from Lil Murda and I’m just so excited for you guys to see the journey that he’s going on.”

Though Hall spilled the deets on Lil Murda’s new sound, a potential reunion between the rapper and Uncle Clifford is still under wraps.
